Gul'Dan Quickie

Planned to do detailed bw pic of one of my favourite orcs, Gul'Dan, but since I got first lines drawn out and changed to 2B I noticed all my pencils of that sort were too short and my wrist got tired after face so it turned quickie. Plus I got sleepy after midnight.

There's lot of anatomical issues etc., but still it would be nice to hear some sort of feedback. I'm pretty sure I'll return to this theme when I have more time and turn this warlock into some really scaring piece as he deserves.

...

For I am Gul'dan…

I am darkness incarnate.

I will not be denied.

Nice.

But what is the purposes of those rings on his pauldrons/shoulderpads? they don't look really usefull on armour.

Why is the crossguard on his khanjalri-type dagger shaped so it becomes harder to block with?

That really reminds me of the concept art for WC2 and WC1.
I like it a lot.

I have to say that it's very impressive. And i agree with what was said before, it's very similar to Wc1 , Wc2 art.

Thanks guys :) Yeah, I spent my teenage copying the concept art by masters Metzen and Samwise (WC2 era) so I think "some" influence of that might be shown on my works.

As for the pauldrons and the dagger... I have ansolutely no idea. I just drew them and added details and decoration, didn't really think usefulness here, though I often do. But he's a master of all warlocks, devil in flesh, destroyer of dreams, evil and dark magic flows in his veins so strong that just a gaze upon enemy might drive them running away in fear so I quess there's really no use for neither :D

EDIT About the skinning... Maybe I do some stuff when I get right inspiration for it. Thanks for asking :)

Yeah, rings on the shoulders make me run away! :P
/ironic off

I wish I had your drawing skill :)
Btw, his arms are very long, his feet are a bit short, but who cares about the anatomy of an orc :D

I wouldn't say they "suck". They're still really good.

Just needs a bit of an improvement, I guess.

The proportions are really much closer to those of a dwarf. In fact, when I glanced at the thumbnail, I thought it was a dwarf.

Then again, as a spellcaster, he probably doesn't need to be as tall and fit as, say, Grom Hellscream. Still, the legs could be a bit longer.

Yep, that's true. But as said before, he's Gul'Dan, there is no power amongst mortals for him to be feared of :P
