High-Res Arthas Face

Author's Comment:
Yes, a high resolution (1024x1024 in pixel dimensions) custom face texture for the Arthas model by Blizzard.
I know that photorealistic textures obviously are not appropriate for wc3 models and that high resolution (like this example) is pointless.
But I decided to do a little experiment nonetheless.

Please see things in their right context, "photorealistic" isn't meant to relate to this texture but merely as a general clarification.
I misrepresented it to begin with.

Dont put a texture with that high rez on a model that isnt suitable for it. It looks bad, it really does.

Is it really THAT bad?

Yeah, I got it from your ass. Don't you remember?

Regardless! You have to see things in their right context, "photorealistic" wasn't meant to relate to this texture but merely as a general clarification.
I guess I misrepresented it -_-'

lol whitehorn i wanted to write the same.
...

seriously, a model with the wrap of a warcraft unit doesnt really need a high res texture. it will always look as shitty as a wc3 model.
i guess you could have the same result on a texture with normal size.

You could, hence why it's pointless to do so.

EDIT: Okay, everybody. Apart from the high-res shit, what do you think?

BTW it has just become a texture on my to-do list & is down to 512x512. I'll soon post a WIP preview.

He has no eyelids.
The lips are messed up down the centre of the face.
The eye sockets are too deep (too dark), looks bad from the side.
The stubble seems too smooth and spread around the moutn - but not his cheeks? That or he just ate fudge cake and didn't wipe properly.
Hair is too monotone.

I did something similar 4 years ago - highly defined face but shit hair:

Way to soft of focus, increase the contrast and actually give the shape some form...I told you that the tutorial you were using was not appropriate for warcraft.

That doesn't really look high resolution to me...

I'll fix that.

Hmm, You're right. I'll look into that more carefully. Although, it wont really be noticable ingame (from the side that is) - unless Arthas twists' his head.
I do think, however, that he has a fairly suitable shading when looked upon from the front.

I'll emphasize them a bit.

I know, and like you I did a little experiment :)
Thanks for the comments, Whitehorn.

I know, anti. But I had to try it out for myself (although I didn't really directly use the tutorial for this, just the same technique).
I guess I should have put a little more work into this as it clearly could use some improvement. Oh well, just a little experiment Ti-Hi ^_^''

Hmm, you must be talking about the somewhat blurred-ness in the image. Well, I had to scale the heads down a little to make them fit.

You really can't use this as an excuse for anything considering you are using a 1024x1024 texture which wont really be noticable ingame itself.
