Orb of Lightning on Gryphon Rider

Hi. I want to make Gryphon Riders cast Purge on each attack. So I gave him the Orb of Lightning (new) ability and increased the % to 100. The Problem is, now the Cryphon Rider can't attack... Well he does attack, but there's no missile flying and it's doing no damage.
Also the Purge spell icon (which is always shown when using Orb of Lightning) is grey. Could that have anything to do with it?

I also read, that there's a problem with the spell not activating, when the unit auto-aquires a target. Is there any way to solve this problem? I want to make an AOS map.

EDIT: Oddly he can attack buildings but no units. How does that make sense?

I have had this problem myself when I tried to add the poison orb ability to unit without any bonus damage. Im not sure how to fix this problem, i've tried lots of different ways but i guess you could just trigger it. Do both the new and old orb abilitys not work?

Erm... Purge ONLY targets UNITS....

Anyway, a solution to your problem could be... um... I'm out of ideas. Dummy cast it.

Are you sure orb of whatever is supposed to work with a missile-line attack type the the Griphon Rider has?

Change the orb to enable attack 1 (instead of 2)?

I did that once in order to add a passive ability to a hero, and the result is that it disable both attacks :(

My best suggestion: trigger the effect with dummy casters.

I REALLY thought Vexorian made a system about this... I'll look for it...
