You know, i just made a very hard decision.. Normally, i can open *.rar files with another program which can do a lot more then just extracting files *.rar/zip/ files. But the only thing it can't do is open a r*t*rd*d extension *.z7 ( which i never head of before before this ) Now i had to download and not to mention install winrar just for you! I don't feel ( As many others ) to install a extractor just for 1 file and never use it again. Its not as in install the program and remove it. by removing a program it will always leave some data behind which eventually slows a computer down. Example: Trial time of winrar. ( ... like i have to tell you.. ) So could you please, cut the bullcrap and upload *.rar in the future, Thank you. |

You obviously don't understand what Vexorian is attempting to achieve with this. It's called monopoly; if you don't use the tool he wants, then you're screwed. Don't tell him to get compatible with the world, tell this to yourself. |

Winzip is a free program, archives are large compare to *.rar Winrar isn't a free program, compiles faster and extracts faster. Your are telling yourself that Winrar has a monopoly position? Well, thats new. I even think *.zip files are still more used then *.rar, Infact programs like TotalCommander / WinAce extracts all various kinds things. There is no monopoly position while other programs can do the same. In that matter, its the fastest program that does the job. So what you are suggesting as same as Vexorian, why not have millions of extractors? So that a default windows user needs at least 5 extractors to not run into this problem over and over again? I find 1 more then enough, thank you. |

Winzip is not free. Nobody is forcing you to use winrar. 7-zip is free and can decompress many formats. I don't know why have you went with winrar when there are much better file compression tools around. -- You obviously didn't understand my post. I am not here to side with Vexorian or agree with him, and I never said winrar has a monopoly position. Vexorian has a monopoly position over you. |

something odd about all of this is that winrar can extract 7z files. Quote:
-- Bah to tell the truth I only use it because the release process of my tools has gotten too tedious, if I can save 30 seconds of upload time by cutting down the file size it is worth it... -- Nobody is really forcing you to use my files. If you really need to do so, you can always ask somebody with a more open mind to extract it for you and send the result files to you through email. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...hivers#Reading Notice: 7-zip (the software) supports everything WinZip and WinRar do apart from ACE due to legal issues. It's also free and open-source unlike most. So your program that "can do a lot more" obviously can't do enough. |
