Wc3Campaigns has been down for nearly 3 weeks now, and we do apologize for the inconvenience. However, it was a necessary step in order to ensure Wc3Campaigns’ survival. You see, about 2 months ago, Uluru’s server (where we were hosted for free) got hacked into. Now that is not to say WE got hacked into, but rather that one of the many people hosted by Uluru got hacked, and the hacker then used his access to slowly disassemble the server. Over the past month before the downtime, you probably noticed a lot of errors, slow transfer speeds, and lag. That was the result of this hacker. Eventually, Uluru just pulled the plug on the server, killing Wc3c in the process. You all saw the ‘404 This Page Does Not Exist’ errors for nearly a week during this period. After not being able to contact Uluru for a whole week, he finally restored the server to a safe-mode operating condition. This made Wc3Campaigns nearly useless. He told me of his plans, to wipe the server, reinstall from scratch, and only install essential systems as well as to implement his full-page ad system. Unfortunately, some of those ‘non-essential’ systems were core systems used by vB and Wc3Campaigns. We had no choice, it was time to move. So, after speaking with one of my work associates here in California, I arranged for Wc3Campaigns to be moved into one of his unused servers. Over the past 3 weeks of downtime, myself and he (Caleb) have modified the server to handle more traffic, installed a new OS, and configured it to operate properly for our needs. The next step was to fully backup our 30 gigabytes worth of data, and transfer them to the new server. At this point, Vexorian took over and began reconfiguring vB to operate on the new server. Once he got the databases up and running, the site was ready to be switched on. I swapped the domain, and this is the result. Welcome to the new serer for Wc3Campaigns! Unfortunately, the new server comes with a price. Although Caleb wishes he could host us free of charge, we use far more bandwidth than he uses for his current servers; and so we need to make ourselves at least semi-contributive. There is only one solution, ads. Yes, I know, we all hate them, and I have done my best since I became Site Director to keep them off our site, but we have no other alternative. Back at Uluru’s server, you saw some random full-page ads, our ads will be small, clean, and (we hope) non-intrusive. When we finish you should barely notice them. However I do need to ask, therefore, that once a week you click on one ad, to help support our new server. This money goes straight to the server, and is in no way designed to profit me or the other administration. I will also be creating a PayPal donation system, so if you can donate 1 or 2 dollars, it would be greatly appreciated. Well now you know what has been going on, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I thank you all for your patience over the past several weeks, and I do request your patience over the next week as we bug test the new server. Please be mindful that the server is currently located in a third-party location, which means you may experience time-outs and lag from time to time depending on your ISP. These will all be cleared up once we move to the actual rack next week. |

I'll click random adds twenty times a week if it keeps this place alive. :p Anyways, take your time, we all have things we should be doing other than stalking wc3c anyways. Keep up the good work and good luck with all the logistics of it. I must note though, imagine how much of that 30gb would go away if we wiped the graveyard. Wouldn't that help? |

It's good to be back. Well done on reviving this lovely site. Quote:
Yeah, I doubt those unapproved resources have some usefulness. |

I don't really think we would win that much from that, resources take a good amount of space but there are also the big campaign and projects we are hosting... |

The graveyard has no effect on the server's speed only the hard disc space (which we have plenty of). Besdies, it does not take up a lot of space in comparison to the rest of the site. Removing it wont do a whole lot, but thanks for the suggestion! |

Yay, it's back. I was like "Oh lord Starcraft II's not even out yet and we're already dead" during the initial 404 error period. |

I, like many people, are glad for it to be back online. I came back every 5 days checking for an update. And I don't mind ads. And if it will help I will click on them every so often. |

I'm glad to see this beloved site working again. About the ads... I don't see anything negative about that, if they help the site to keep alive, we should click them from time to time for god's sake. |

And now the ads come. I hope this place will stay alive with the help from them. I'll do my duty to click once a week. |

Good to be back! The ads shouldn't be a problem as long as you check they don't have spywares, badwares, adwares, underwares... |

Indeed. Finally we can come back to our beloved site. *sniff* ahhh it even has that new server smell. and not a moment too soon Hive was giving me "hives". Hey where did the chat go? |
