I noticed that you can't actually remove the lightning effects and replace the missile model for lightning based abilities. (Well, you could remove the lightning, but not add a missile). Is there any way around this? My Chain spell is working properly except for the annoying fact that it doesn't have any missile -_-' |

If you're leaving empty boxes 'n' stuff, have you tried using the model _.mdl, .mdl or None.mdl? Try putting something empty (but not actually empty) in there. |

No, I don't have a problem with empty models (or invisible models like for dummy units for casting spells).. My problem is getting a model to work for the spell. Go and try it yourself and see what I mean. Get Chain Lightning, double click on Art\Lightning Effect and delete the ones used, and then double click on Missile Art and try something. It's not going to show in game. I don't know why. |

Indeed, many abilities that don't make use of a given field actually can't use it. Although there are standard fields for all abilities, Blizzard didn't necessarily implement all those fields for every ability, and this may be one of those. However, you can certainly trigger your own spell using some other base damage ability that does use a projectile. Or you can try giving the unit the Bloodmage's Sphere ability which adds a projectile to any spell cast. Of course, that would affect all other spells cast by the unit, too. |
