i have been working on a map that is supposed to be like a Star Wars Battlefront map. The objective of the map is to take over command posts owned by the enemy, and then proceed to kill all of the enemy units. Each team has a number of reinforcements that will decrease each time a unit is killed. After 10 kills, a random player will be able to use a special hero to aid their team in combat. From when I have hosted on B.net, people tell me that the map is pretty cool. But for now i have not included all cusom models, as to increase dl speeds and such. This map is still in a pretty early stage, and if you find any bugs, just tell me and i will try my best to fix them. Thanks for your time ![]() |

Its a nice start. I would definately add some abilities to make it more dynamic, rather than just click and attack. Another thing - If you've ever actually played Battlefront, you know that there are more than 12 units on the map at once... Perhaps you need an AI to make up for that deficit. Another thing. As far as I could tell, you made no use of gold/lumber/food. Perhaps you should make that into deaths/kills or the player. Just change the icon so it looks nice. For food, I'd make that command post under your teams control over total command posts. Change the icon on that to... Circle of Power? Whatever. One thing though - your terrain is not great. Add in some possible strategies with your terrain, like bottlenecking (could be good if combined with an actual rocket ability on arc troopers), raised areas (for sniping) and stuff like that. Yet another thing - Perhaps you should change your command points to shops (preferably for units), with the allied shop or whatever ability on it. The racial shops in melee have it (arcane vault, voodoo lounge), and it allows only allies to shop from that shop. Add dummy heros around the command points for each player, and then, as long as the command point is owned by an ally, you can shop from it. I would shiwtch it to a team color though (the color of your AI that I know you'll have). A couple more suggestions: Dialouges are bulky, use the shop, and, if you have the same icon for all unit types... change that! It will make it much easier to pick your unit. With the shop method, you can set a timer before you get the really good units (I know it's points, but who cares, timers are good too), as well as limit the number of one type of unit you can have at a time. You may want to keep a running multiboard that displays each players kills, deaths, command points taken, and score (could be as simple as kills - deaths + cp*2). You could also do totals beneath each team. This would really look professional. In the cinematic, at the beginning, where the guy wants to know how to change the camera, you are missing a comma/period there. Look into that. Other than that, work on polish, and try to bring the feeling of Star Wars to warcraft 3. |
