Shadows World:(Description) + Need to give a unit a tree model

Hi everyone I'm just getting started on a map, but i need help. I wouldn't normally introduce a map so early in production, but since Im asking you guys for help, the least i can do is tell you what my map is about.

Problem: I'm trying to make units with tree models. Obviously I've tried just setting the model of the unit be a tree model, but the only ones that work are the indestructable sunken ruins and the indestructable barrens trees. All of the destructables come out with white skins. Thanks in advance for any help.

Now about my map. The main concept of my map is freedom.
  • Unique character advancement (No levels)
  • An ever changing world
  • Unique monsters
  • Multiple paths to victory

Character advancement will be based on what you do. This is to decrease the need for finding monsters to fight and such. This way, improving your character is a natural process rather than a chore. What ever you do, you will gain experience at it. This way, gameplay should be smooth, and have minimal focus on upgrading your character and more focus on completing game tasks

The world in Shadows World is ever changing. The map will feature a complex yet delicate ecosystem. Many things will actually grow and change as you play the map. I will have many intertwined systems that rely on each other for balance, the players however, may interfere with this balance if they want to shape the world to their liking. Systems included will be a forest system that dictates the growth and regrowth of forests, single tree system for the life cycle and such of fruit bearing trees, many animal systems for the few, but complex animals of the world, a human system for the actions of each human, and maybe more if i think of anything else. The most complex system is obviously the human one. Humans will act on emotion or instictive need, hunger, thirst, boredom, greed. They will grow and evolve, and group together into small or large cities.

The unique monsters are just that, each monster will be unique. Monsters will spawn randomly when certain uncommon, but natural events take place in the world. Monsters grow just as heroes do, they may obtain skills as they go about their lives. They will become stronger as they use their abilities just like players do. Monsters are evil creatures and act upon a few basic needs, and the hunger for evil. In Shadows World, it would be wise to observe a monster before jumping into combat, it may be smarter than you.

There will be many ways to go about winning in this game. I'm not exactly sure on the conditions of victory yet, but I'm planning on a point system. Going about your daily life will earn you points, managing a business, making money, killing monsters will all earn points. The first player to reach a certain amount of points wins. Also, I may or may not include a few different challenge cards that players can obtain from any path they take in life .these cards will allow a player to challenge another player to a minigame. The loser of the game loses points, the winner gets nothing.

Dont expect anything playable anytime soon, but as i said i need help so ill tell you all what its about. This will be a time consuming map, but once it gets rolling, it shud progress quickly, if i get an answer on that tree thing, ill get you all an update on my progress soon.

that is quite a cool idea, although how you will put it off i am not quite sure but it is possible, but i would suggest recruiting a few people to your team if you do not have anyone, and i am not sure about the tree question, but just use the indestructible ones, because i think when using a normal tree model it gets messed up with the whole randomization of the doodads

I got these from WEU. Here you go.

You can download all tree models that work as units too, here!

Thank you very much penguin, I was wondering if you had the canopy trees as well? I appreciate the models, they will help a lot thank you.

Famous yea it is possible, its actually really fun, im playing with my human wants/needs system right now, and its fun watching a neutral villager run around doing stuff. Im not gonna recruit anyone. If i had anyone else on this it would just make it more complicated.

Thanks for the feedback guys

Sadly I dont. But I'm glad you could put those models to use.

This map sounds awesome.
