Can u please implement this?. Imo, it will help make the map easier to use I added an attached map to illustrate how to do it. There are more than enough icon space on the unit in elim tourney to do this. U can at hotkey like the first 3 slots. This is just a basic trigger, I am sure u can improve it. This will allow casting of items like bombs in slot 1 and using of med kits in slot 3,etc. I think u should at least allow casting of grenades with W hotkey in slot 1. |

Wow, called 7 8 4 5 1 2, you don't need to hotkey items. |

I know this would only be for me (and other who have laptops like mine), but my laptop which isn't designed for gaming doesn't have a numpad, so I can't use the items through a hotkey. Also, Skurai's way means that you don't have to move your hand to the other side of the keyboard to use a grenade and stuff. I know that might sound a little bit stupid, but it does take about 1 second to move your hand to the other side of the keyboard and find the right numpad button (just to realise that you haven't hit the numpad button to enable the numpad) for the right ability. It is much for easy (and hand friendly) to have the ability, but it would be bad to have too many because that would crowd the unit's ability slots and for people who have a lesser, smaller minds, it might cause them to become confused, and possibly even rage quit due to their brain overloading and in its confusion, sending incorrect messages to their body, sometimes causing them to grenade themselves or teamkill their allies. I think that you would need to go 50/50 and have some items with hotkeys, and other less used items to have numpad hotkeys (like c4's and cameras) |

The keypad is located on the right side of the keyboard... Its not easy to press a to shoot and press the keypad at the same time. @deadlysheep This is a very simple easy to implement trigger which would help every1, not just u. U can use R to toss grenade which would be real cool and improve the gameplay. There are many many empty icon slots on the hero. I assume u are joking about the 2nd part lol. Elim tourney, the hero has only 1 icon, and that is attack. |

i support this idea, the game pace will be much better and more transitional. When I usually play, I can't decide whether to not use the mouse and stop moving/evading to throw a nade or to stop attacking to use grenade and eventually not even touching the grenade for a long while. I think the explosives and thrown items that are used a lot are the ones that need to be hotkeyed. |

Yea I got a little carried away in the second part lol. A good example of how hotkeys would help is my favorite combo of gas grenade + shock grenade. You throw the shock grenade first, and if you think its going to hit, you also throw the gas grenade. If you do this well, it usually kills at least one person. I find it hard doing that combo quickly enough, because the numpad is very inconveniant to use. It takes me just that half second longer to get the gas grenade going after i know that my shock is going to affect them, and that half a second makes a big difference deciding if they are going to die or not. @ Skurai - Actually there are two icons on the hero, attack and jump. Meh, that's still not very many. |

It takes me under 0.19 seconds to move my hand to the fingerboard. And hotkeys on the LEFT side of the Keyboard doesn't make too much sense to me, but the Attack hotkey be A makes sence. The thing is with me, and others like myself, is that we have trouble grasping Keys that have NO resemblence to their actual names. For example Shock grenades hotkey is Q Why the Hell would it be Q? Why not S? When I do Numpad hotkey things, I look at inventory, press the key, move hand back to A, and keep my right hand on the mouse. Besides, PRESSING A and, while waiting for the cooldown, use a grenade, doesn't take MUCH effort. |

@crystal lol no comment, u cant be serious lol, moving your hand all the way to the right side to look. There is no way u can shoot and cast at the same time. watever, suit urself. U can sooo easiler have ur first finger on Q or W to cast grenade. U actually have to look at the keyboard to use numpad, might as well just use mouse and double click to cast grenade. @deadlysheep glad u get the idea. Btw half a sec does decide the death when it comes to grenades. Trust me this will improve the gameplay a little. Oh yeah there is 2 icons and yeah, there are alot of empty space unused icons. @raydude glad u get it 2. yep, its mostly for those throwing items. I hope the elim makers implement this or something like this. With their coding skills, they can probably implement something better than the basic map i uploaded in topic post. |

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that part about looking at the numpad. While you move you eyes over the numpad for 0.5-1 second to get the right button for the item, you stop looking at the screen. This can mean that you don't notice any subtle things, like someone jumping down from a wall to try to get away from you, or someone throwing a grenade at you. I understand what TheCrystalBlade is saying, but the question is why not? There are no downsides apart from Quote:

each time there is something that takes skill in elim you people complain that the game is too hard. :) Practise. (and for you laptop owners, its either chatting or throwing, though luck. Buy a pc.) |

Clickin forever, seriously why botehr using hotkeys at all, it makes u like half a second faster, ooo like most of the noobs on bnet are gonna take advantage of you because you are 0.5 seconds slower than you could be. |
| 06-28-2007, 05:41 PM | #12 |
You seriously have to look down at your keyboard for 1 second to find the numpad? |
| 06-28-2007, 05:59 PM | #13 |
Hmm i was thinking that it would be more positive than this. Clicking the numpad is not a skill, its more of a hassle that can be done away with. If anything, imo this will add more skill and gameplay to the game If u hotkey items, gameplay will be more improved for sure. It wont even take u long to do it. Just trigger 1st and 2nd slot to work with W and E for throwing items and perhaps slot 3 and 4 to work with R and T for items like med kit and it will be perfect. Elim tourney will be a little faster moving now and more skills will be needed cause players can throw bombs more faster and more accurately, etc. At the moment most ppl use mouse clicks to throw a bomb. Oh and before i forget, pls plsss implement an "open map" mode. Call it -om perhaps and it basically means u can see the whole map. This does add skill and new gameplay to it cause u can now avoid projectiles if u are alert and shoot from further way. This is extremely simple 2 trigger and its just a mode. Elim has no mode at all currently. Also i posted an anti-mh trigger here http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=95028 It works partially only and i kinda need help from experts like the 2 of u to make it complete. I hope u take a look at it . It will still detect most mhers though cause most mhers will turn all options on. Would be useful to use in your map as well considering the amount of mhers that exist these days. |

Lol GaDDeN doesn't like modes much and i doubt he'll even consider your sugestion. |
