A Quote of the week?

Seeing as how we get some really stupid stuff going around in the forums sometimes, maybe, weekly/bi-weekly we have a small little box above the news section on the home page with a stupid quote someone found on the site (a recent one obviously, not something from like '03). We could even grant someone the position of finding such quotes and sending them to whomever modifies the site most, or whatever.

Sounds stupid, but it just suddenly hit me for some reason. Hm.

((Do I win if I quote you?

Hahah, joking, joking.

It sounds like a fun idea.

don't quote that.))

((EDIT:

Did you get the idea from your sig?))

I think it is not a good idea, it's like saying: "hey that guy is the idiot of the week!! look the stupid thing that she/he said". In my honest opinion, doing that goes against this text:

We must promote in this site the respect in general, and doing that is like degrading ourselves and the site at the same time. I understand that the intention with this is to make the site more fun, but I'm sure that this kind of activities could achieve easily the opposite.

This sort of text is always ignored/not given any attention. It's like when you first install a game, are you really gonna read the Terms of Use/Agreement at the very beginning?

I know I read it but--

Anyways, yeah. It seemed at first to be fun but then again it's also rude.))

Eh, that's true. But not so much the idiot quotes as the funny ones (as in humorous) would be put up. Obviously it's not nice to quote someone's stupidity. That's what signatures are for.

That welcome is a complete lie. Go to the off topic forum and you'll see why I say that.
Anyways, I think this is a great idea- we could have a weekly thread for submitting quotes, deleted after 2 weeks.

Looks like we have the first quote already.

Seriously though, what will this achieve except for alienating new members who make mistakes?

I'm sure if i go digging in your post history i could make you look foolish, and how would that make you feel?

And who said only new members would be quoted? The oldest memebers sometimes say the funniest things.

I like the quote of the week idea.

Before you start flaming me, I don't mean the quote of someone on the forum saying stupid things. I meant an advice/wise sort of quote.

Or a plain funny one would work too.

Tim.
I have no intent to make such a section.

Couldn't agree more. It's like spam/flame mania there.

I think it would be good as long as it's not a quote about how n00b the new members are, their stupid questions or something. If it was [b]funny[b] stupid, then I think it would be ok.

i remember a long time ago, WC3C had its own bash.org-style quote database for the IRC server. Now THAT would be fun to have back... with a clean, new database.... (i had too many quotes of me beign retarded on that thing xD)

The site introduction is a trap so we can lure noobs here to rape them. We are so evil and corrrrrupted.
