Fire Lord Scorpion

WILL THE ALMIGHTY
A conversion from the arachnathid to a firelord styled scorpion
Path is: units\creeps\archnathid\arachnathid.blp

NOTE: Due to some clumsy Blizzard artist or something in the like, there is a typo in the path, so its not "arachnathid\arachnathid.blp" but "archnathid\arachnathid.blp".

Enjoy.

Looks nice could be used for a lava spawn unit or something but how about this idea ... Try to make the claws and the tail claw from a different color i think it would look nicer

Way too much gold on the plates. Other than that I think it looks great. What I mean by too much is that it's too thick. The gold outlines should be around 5 pixels wide, not 10.

The armor is really plain, and the fire could have some contrast.

Its a great idea, and you did just fine considering it's just a skin, but I think it would look even better if you added some particles.

My opinions:

-Gold lining is a bit thick, but not atrocious.
-Plating could use just some slight detail, nothing major.
-The tail needs a bit more of a lavaish look, it looks too solid of an orange-red right now.

Otherwise, I love it. Your firelord conversions are really nice.

Really lacking contrast, depth, shadow.

If its about contrast/shadow/depth on the lava parts, there is no way I am going to add that. The lava isn't supposed to be affected by shadow, like on the Firelord.

EDIT: Ok just realised I uploaded an old version of the blp with not much shading on the armor... I'll fix that right away.

What Whitehorn said, plus detail.

The contrast mostly is a problem on the armor parts.
They don't look like metal at all, no highlighting, no contrasting, no detailing.
The shading looks poorly done too, reminds me of flat stone.

Also, like Rinpun said, shrink the width of the gold areas.
They look terrible and way too large as is.

Hmmm... this is an old skin I had lying around. I don't think I'm gonna work on it anymore, frankly.

Yes, I'm lazy, I know. :P

I dont agree with the comments. The armor could use a little better shading yes, and the overall rendering of the texture could be better, but its a perfect firelord version of the scorpion, shading on the fire bits would only decrease the quality of this.

Why thank you, Erwt. Wasn't expecting that...

I too, now looking at the in-game shots, think it's a great skin. The lava looks fine, but the plating does need just a touch of work.

I was thinking that too, but then who's going to zoom up close to a model just to see the imperfections, anyway?
