Dawn of Sorrow RPG needs help

im making an rpg and need some members to get it off the ground.

Heres the basics of it.

the name of the rpg is dawn of sorrow. the story is, 1000 years ago a demon rose up and was determined to destroy the humans that hunted his kind into near extinction. the humans were at a loss untill a paladin created a magical stone that was used to trap the demon into a prison for all eternity. to protect this stone the holy order placed it in a hidden location in the daggers edge mountains. the prison was thought to keep the humans safe as there wasnt any concievable way to release the demon. but evil always finds a way. during his imprisonment he learned he wasnt totally powerless. he began to communicate with demons such as himself and vowed to have his revenge on the humans for what they have done. the holy order felt the terrible fury unleased from the mountains and sent a force to see what has happened. on a peak of the mountains they went and an evil mist blanketed the land. evil was awakened. when the order returns with word to the king, he sets out a search for the lands greatest heros to take up swords and fight the evil once again.

Heres some of the features in the map.

the map is a multiplayer map with several features never put into a map. at night your heros sight range is really low and you can barely hunt at night. making campfires is the only way to see anything at all. but the risk in doing that is monsters are drawn to the light and will try to put it out, plunging you into darkness once more. you can erect tents which when you enter will slowly heal you. pack horses is the main means of baggage handling. there are 4 classes that you will be able to choose; warrior, rogue, priest, and sorceress. each class is equiped with 11 spells that they must use to turn the tide of battle and destroy evil for good. this map also has weapon attachments. level cap is 100 and its a save/load rpg. classes will have "techtrees", 3 branches with a differant type of skill specialization. sorceress has ice, fire, and arcane. warrior has protection, fury, and arms. rogue has combat, subtlety, and assassination. priest has holy, retribution, and balance. 4 skills in each tree except the last one which only has 3. higher level skills require certain levels of the preceeding skill. so in order to get cone of flame in fire tree you would need lvl 3 in fireball to train in it. same with ice. most of the skills are based off there wow counterparts as im too lazy to come up with a better standard. theres probably more that i havent put but thats the basics of what i have so far.

Now heres what i need.

need a decent terrainer, not asking for a god, but that would be nice. i have a layout of what im looking for so it shouldnt be really hard. if you can send me a sample of your terrain that would be nice. a forest setting, a barrens setting, a haunted woods setting, a mountain setting, a grassland setting, and a harbor town would be things in the map so whatever you can show me would help. do as many or as little as you want, however the more you show the better.

need a person who is good at triggers/jass, i have a few of the triggers done that i need for the map but as for the complicated stuff im at a lose. also needs to be able to get a save/load code running for it.

quest writer, i have about a dozen quests that i have written on a paper but i need more, about 40 in all should be fine,or less depending.

of course i need a modeler, not really for much as i need the 4 classes modeled for me. i would use whats already made but they dont fit my style.

Here is whats done so far.

i have all items, weapons, skills, stats, and icons ready for the map. all that needs to be done is terrain done and models figured before i can start importing what i have into the map. then its up to the person doing triggers to make my map come alive.

Where did this sudden idea come from?

actually the story is based on a short story that was 20 pages long that i wrote in advanced literature class. teacher told me it was very good and if i wrote it into a book and didnt end it in "to be continued" , he would be the first to buy it. im no writter yet so ill make it into a game first. hopefully theres somebody who can make my dream come true.

Concerning the models.

i would like to have custom models for the map but its not needed. if you do however choose to do them please do all 4, i hate having 2 of the models and have to use blizzard models for the others. reskins are good too. priest would be the archmage model reskinned to look priestly, also off the horse. the sorceress can be the sorceress ingame but i dont want her floating. would like to her to have a running animation. warrior can me a footman, just reskinned abit so it isnt exactly like the other footman. the rogue would be a ranger without the bow, with a regular attack animation. dont wanna say footman animations because the warrior will have that. i just want a 1 hand attack animation. also the priest and sorceress will have attack animations, they will use a staff so i need them to not have a ranged attack.

"advanced literature class"... What were you studying, cliches in fantasy literature? Demon imprisoned by a legendary hero unleashed upon the world has been done to death. The story is either the biggest deja vu I have seen in a while or you presentation completely failed to show it's finer points.

Speaking of the presentation, granted it's not the wall of text of doom we all dread, but it is only marginaly better. These forums offer a bunch of stylistic elements like font sizes, colours, bolds and italics that, if used in moderation, can make your presentation appear considerably better structured and more pleasant to the reader's mind. You used none. Also, your grammar could be better.

In that whole paragraph about the features of the map, the only marginaly interesting thing is the whole nighttime mechanic, everything else about hero classes is just boredom, technical details that I don't care about when looking for some general information on what your map is about. Perhaps the most informative statement in the whole paragraph was probably "most of the skills are based off there wow counterparts as im too lazy to come up with a better standard." It's nice that you are honest like that, but if you find yourself admiting something like this, perhaps you should rethink your project.

You haven't displayed any particular competence either. You're looking for a terrainer which is really something anyone can do. Not everyone can do it well, that's true, and not mastering it is quite forgivable if you're specialised in other fields, however you also need help with advanced scripting and modeling. You seek help even with what one would consider your strong point (being in advanced literature class and all), writing quests.

I don't see this project having much of a future unless you downsize it to a point where you can do it yourself.

So you study "advanced literature class"? Not in English I hope. If it is in English, you're in trouble, since it is obvious your grasp of the language is tenous. Due to this, your ability to write quests and stuff beyond the outline and ideas is considerably hampered.

Anyway, so, what you've done is...object editing...? Object editing is a very small part of modding; it is important, but basic. Oh, you have a few ideas, but they really have been done to death, and much of it is copied from WoW. Stories and such like are 10 to the penny, and this isn't anything ground breaking.

If you want a project to really work, you have to get a large part of it done yourself - until then, you'll find it very hard to get good team members (and even then you'll have to do the lion's share of the work). That means learning to terrain and learning to trigger. It isn't that hard. That's how we all did it and worked up to the level we are now - we're much better and more capable mappers because of it.

So, fiddle around with trigger on some smaller maps, and best of luck. I suggest you work on some smaller projects first, though.

i can do most of it, if i have to i can reskin the models myself. i cant add bones and such to change animations as it always makes the model stop working. the triggers i can do myself also, although having someone who can do jass would help. yes i did study advanced literature in english while in high school. i type the way i do because im not being graded. the quests i have done are well thought out and are written to match the personality of the quest giver. i say i only have some quests done because they are based off parts of the story. i can write more but i need at least the terrain before i can really get to plotting new quests. the terrain i can do myself but i would appreciate some help as im not that good, but if forced i can do it.

Oh, but you are being graded, in a way. Good writing is a big part of a project presentation and gramatical errors can affect how people like the presentation and thus the project as a whole. By writing your presentation poorly, you imply that either the writing in the map is equaly poor or that you lack the dedication to make a presentation worthy of your project. Either way, not a good sign.

Well, nobody is forcing you to do anything, we make maps for our own enjoyment, so "if forced i can do it" means you'll never do it. If you want to do it, then consider yourself forced because people willing to join projects are hard to find and in order to get their attention you need to have something to show (and a good presentation to show it) or you are unlikely to get a team together (unless you're TerranUp16).
