Dragon of the Earth

The guy in the middle is the dragon but sort of in human form. Take it however you want. I didnt go into it with any specific idea. More of a jumble of ideas.

I did this for school and it took me two 2b penciles to finnish.

2B is not nearly enough. This drawing is desperately screaming for more contrast and a focal point.

Triangle trees! Also, that guy's four-pack needs work. Roundish on one side, then the other side is squared. Needs alot more shading on the ground and trees; so far, what I see is just details. Shade it more and work on the proportions of the trees in the background. They need to look they're leafy rather than spikes on two hills.

putting a lot of effort into something doesn't automatically make it good. This needs a little more effort consisting in grabbing a 8 or 9B and cranking in the contrast with it and making some tonal variation.

But it makes it a "good job" anyway.

"Oh mommy look, I shat and peed in the sand and worked 1 week with excavators and cranes to make a sand castle that looks like nothing" good job, huh?

anyway, sorry, I think I'm getting carried away here.

As a texture exercise is very interesting, and I like the result. Anyways TDR suggestions should be followed in order to improve your skills, Mr Denu.

well anyway its pretty cool, i like the concept, very "age of dragons" (if thats even wat the book is called, its the one where at the end the black dragon gets owned by the rest), except ive never know of dragons to take on the forms of, by the looks of things, a druid. the wolf heads and the dudes heads are awesome.

i can never be bothered to put in a background like that, i just draw the figure, add in a few details, and bam! a floating figure standing next to a tree with equal levitation powers. i dont like where the roots meet the ground tho, it has no transition, its just roots, then its road, no interaction...

It needs contrast.
