Hello everybody ;) I want to present my current project called Tribes Conflicts : the first goal of this map was to make a "troll tribes" like, without anoying things and with more fight (that was quite non-existent in trolls tribes). But, quickly, I changed a bit my mind, to make something - I hope - more new... A friend gave me the first idea : "And why you don't start the game in a preplaced camp, with some npc and guards ?" Still keeping in mind the first goal is to FIGHT, and not only roaming on the map in quest of ressources, it would enable me to define a starting place for each team, then other one won't spend time to find where to shed some blood ![]() In compensation, guards will give you some protection during the start of the game. The second idea was about a special class system, I don't like when classes are chosen at start, then I decided to give to heroes, all spells classes. Obviously, they will be initially disabled, and will be learned in different ways, with quests or receipes by example. My, third idea was to make an advanced quest system, that I must admit looks like wow's one : yellow exclamation & question marks, repeatable quests, etc... I find it really pleasant to use : yellow exclamation mark when the npc can give you a quest, question mark if you can finish a quest, nothing if you have nothing to deal with him... simple. Of course, quests are not global for players. I also wanted to add some "craft" skills, again inspired a bit by wow (wow is the devil, I KNOW ;) ). It will mainly be learnable by doing quests or buying receipes, but it will stay simple and have not much crafts. What about gameplay ? A customized spell system, to allow some freedoms : like grounding totem (wow's spell I know), that redirect an offensive spell cast on a near allied target. An equipment system, that frees the inventory from armors and weapons, usefull in a game where gathering in important. Playable race : Tauren ! Goal : Destroy the enemy camp totem. Players : 2 Teams : 5v5 max Classes (not exactly classes but a kind of "knowledge") : - Combat skills (in beta) : clearly the "warrior" skills - Hunting skills : drop traps, tame beasts - Survival skills : silent and fast moving, survival in wild zone... (any better ideas ?) - Shamanic skills (in beta) - Druid skills (in beta) - <class not exactly defined> (I thougt about a kind a of priest classe) - Black magic : vodoo spells, curses, demonology... Trade skills : - Blacksmithing - Leatherworking - Herbalism - Alchemy - Enchanting (with a special system I create, to attach buff to items and not to units)
Any feedback and ideas (especiality quests ideas) will be apreciated ;) To finish, some screenshots : |

I hope those aren't WoW models because they look just like em. The map design looks good and I'd definitely play it if I saw it hosted on Battle.net. |

they are, most definitely, WoW models. i dunno how bad that's considered around here but it doesn't bother me. really cool UI, but may i suggest putting the wooden frame on all the used icons instead of just the command ones? it'll look 10 times better. oh, and get rid of the yin/yang sign above the portrait. |

He didn't make the UI and i doubt he has the ability to do that kind of editing anyway >.>. At first i was like hey this looks alright then I'm like wait....something is familiar here. WoW...never did like that game. I'd give the map a go though even with the WoW stuff..It still looks slightly interesting. |

You don't know yet? Wow model are "outlaw". Oh and that pandaren UI ridiculously don't fit the theme. Tauren represent somehow the amerindian in Warcraft lore. Pandaren represent the asian in warcraft lore. |

Yeah I think the orc interface would work better for you, because of the yin yangs and bamboo and stuff. |

Try to keep the filesize small. |

I'm alone working on this project - I can do it - but I don't have time to do my own models and skins, sorry. Quote:
Is it applied to screenshots too, or only to maps ? What kind of sanctions do we risk for that ? Is it just "amoral" or "judicial sanctions", I thougt using wow model's in Blizzard's map was tolerated (as blizzard considers fan's war3 maps as their own properties). Quote:
As I said previously, I'm alone on this project, maybe later when the map will be finished, I'll design a new UI just for you ;) Quote:
But if you make a petition, I'll maybe have to remove it ! Quote:
PS: I'm sorry for eventual language mistakes, english is not my mother tongue. ;) |

The terrain looks nice, but the wow models still look out of place. They are of a much higher quality. Alos, WoW models are banned here, I beleive. |

also* lol. um, i looked at the panda UI where it was posted.. and it said specifically that he didn't want anybody to edit it. so uh, yeah unless you had his permission, there's gonna be a lot of people mad at you. |

The units are lacking shadow btw (you've probably noticed) which makes them look extra out of place. |

well I'd be interested in playing a finished version it looks pretty nice. I don't hate you for using wow models, and everything seems pretty well put together. |
