Unit Classification - Suicidal

Quick Question,

Is there any gameplay consequence of setting a unit's classification to suicidal?

I want to do this for trigger work, but want to make sure it won't cause any problems.

Thanks

I think the "Suicidal" classification has to do something with AIs and their micro-management...

... I think.

I've heard it's only used to prevent loading sappers into zeppelins.

suicidal makes sapper use "kaboom" on right click, doesnt it?

I used this in my map.

It does make anyone w/kaboom go KABOOM. Otherwise it does nothing.

Blizz uses this in Extreme Candy War 2005 and makes rogues and warriors unit type "suicidal", then makes the mana restoration aspect of the healing fountain affect "non-suicidal". Since the mana for rogues and warriors is for energy and rage, respectively, this is a clever solution to preventing fountains from restoring "rage" or "energy", thus preventing complications of the rage and energy system.

Yes, it makes units with kaboom go kaboom on right-click.
As Castlemaster mentioned we sometimes abuse it to flag unit types to make them affected/not affected by certain spells and abilities.

Perfect, thanks for the info guys. Wish there were more classifications like this.

There are.
Tauren and Ancient.

Tauren doesn't have the "non-tauren" targeting option on spells though, nor can it be added with triggers. The only other classifications with full targeting options and that can be added with triggers (besides suicidal and ancient) are mechanical/non-mechanical(organic), hero/non-hero, flying/non-flying(ground).

The only use Tauren has is to allow units with that classifacation to be ressurected with the Ancesteral Spirit spell, that's all it does.

Yeah, that's how I use it.
I just make all of my dummy units that should never be removed by other means (Only self-destruction) into taurens, then check for that classification when I would normally remove units.
Makes life easy

Ancient is what I use for targeting.
Suicidal if I need another after Ancient.

Does "Ward" classification have any side effects?

Oh yes, it removes all icons from the unit's command card so that the only order you can issue to it is a right click order.
