At long last, after months of work, I've got Wolf Packs... 70% Done :D Special Thanks to: -Pyrogasm, for tons of JASS help, feedback, and general kindness. -Rising_Dusk and his clan VZ, for giving me a shitload of feedback, and telling me I needed better tooltips. (They're awesome now.) -The)TideHunter(, for helping me when I was a n00b with JASS. (Way back in the day) -Wc3campaigns, for giving me something to do when I'm bored, and for raising my skills as a map-maker. -Pollama.com for hosting my project. (Link is at the bottom.) -My friends on Battle.net for their constant testing. -Vexorian's map optimizer Name: Wolf Packs Author: Darkwulfv Players: 4v4 or 5v5 works best. Features: -12 Unique (not including Pups) wolves, all with at least 2 custom, triggered abilities. (Not all are in there yet.) -Hardworked (but not perfect yet!) terrain with multiple environments -Highly newb friendly, including a Tips and Hints box for each wolf! -A couple secret wolves to replace your current one with (upon finding said secret wolf) (1/2 done) -Optimized triggers for minimal (if any) lag, all triggering done in 100% pure JASS. Any lag will be in the beginning, but I'm working on it. -Ambiance in certain area around the map -Humorous puns... Most inside jokes, but the funny is still there. -Replayability; with 12 wolves to pick from, strategies can be formed for all sorts of combos! -Tight-knit teamwork gameplay. Sure, you can solo, but you'll die fast. Trust me. -Scaled-size terrain and units; That means trees that are bigger than the units, not the same size as them. (May be tweaked.) -Fancy Schmancy tooltips (Thanks Rising_Dusk!) -5 abilities for each wolf, 2 or more of which are trigger enhanced or based. -Random events; some serious, some humorous, some do nothing. (Not in there yet) -Diverse prey for the killing, ranging from deer to dragons to mutants (More to come, probably) Gameplay: (The selection system is going to change ASAP.) You start with a wolf. Everyone picks one, and certain wolves can only be chosen once. Otherwise, you can all have the same or whatever you like. From there, you must scour the forest looking for prey (primarily deer), which keeping yourself alive from the other wolves, deer attacks, hunters, bear raids, dragons on the mountain, and who knows what else. The whole objective is to eliminate the other pack. In order to extend gameplay and offer chances for comebacks, each wolf has a certain number of lives. They are lost as follows: Every wolf has 5 lives. -2 for dieing to an enemy wolf/hunter/villager -1 for Starving, dieing to deer/bears/mutants/dragons, or killing yourself (some spells do damage to yourself =p) By working together, your team needs to find and eliminate the enemy pack at all costs. However, you can also run onto Dragon Mountain for some rare and powerful items, raid the village for tasty sheep and pig meat (these offer more gold per kill than deer), or try your luck at catching fish and prawn in the river! There's plenty to do instead of just hunting down the pack. But remember, that's your primary objective. Please, enjoy! Here's my forum if you'd like to post or retrieve more information. Wolf Packs Forum I would post screenshots, but my computer mutilates them. If anyone would like to post some good ones, go right ahead! You can also contact me at: [email protected] [email protected] Have fun! Feedback, suggestions, the likes, is all wanted! Thanks so much fps-doug for the screenshots! Any more screenshots are appreciated! (different wolves preferred, so none/few with demon) |

~Bump~ Sorry for that. I had a bad trigger error in there, but It's all fixed and posted now. You may commence testing. Any feedback, suggestions, etc. is welcome, and don't sugar coat it! Also, a warning. Anyone who says this map is a ripped map, an edit of a map without permission, or anything implying this map is not my own work will have their post removed (I'll find someone to do it.) and their comments/opinions nulled and ignored. This map is mine and mine alone. The only hint of other people's work is from Pyrogasm/Rising_Dusk, who helped with some script, and ideas from friends/the community. This is my first and final warning. One person was ignorant enough to think my map was an illegal edit, when my map had nothing in common except for 4 wolves (by name) and the map's name. |

Hehe, now I'm gonna have to test this map and blast you with a deadly attack full of critique. Anyways, hope this map was worth your time! I'll have to play it to see. I'll reply later when I actually get the chance to play it. |

Looks cool, now I'm off to test if that's really the case. Also, you should get some custom models for this. That'd be really badass. Pretty cool. This has some real potential! It just needs some better terrain (ore doodads for more nature-y effect) and a few more prey animals, and prehaps really weak little bunneis you can easily gulp up with a devour-like ability. |

Meh, I'm trying to keep this map 98% mine (2% is codes/ideas from friends). Also, I updated a little, but nothing big. Once some more stuff is updated, I'll... well, update :D |

Like I said, it's really cool, and made me think Troll Tribes, only with a better concept. If you don't wanna add cusom models, that's OK, I'm just not a big fan of Tinted Models. Looks weird, IMO.. |

How the hell do wolves prey on dragons? |
| 07-23-2007, 05:37 AM | #10 | |
The dragons get pwnt by something like Chaos Barrage, and the wolf eats the fleshy interior, tearing it's innards apart and swallowing it in large, meaty chunks, dark dragon blood splashing all over the ground beneath them. It rips out the intestines, one of the best parts of a dragon might I add, and swallows it in a sickening slurp. What's left of the carcass is left to rot, slowing baking away on the beating sun of Dragon Mountain, rotting into the dirt and grass beneath were it once roosted nobly. That, is how a wolf preys on a dragon. Need I say more? Quote:
A: I'm not an artist and don't have the tools for modeling B: I don't want to request 6 or more models for something. C: There's approx. 13 wolves, which means alot of models. D: On the net, there aren't exactly a whole lot of wolf models that don't look so different that anyone would notice. E: I like tinted models :D So much easier =p |

Easier? Yes. You have a point. Can you add a "Wolf Actions" Ability called Howl that pings your location to all players? |
| 07-23-2007, 07:26 AM | #12 | |

Besides, the fighter already has 5 actions. he doesn't need more, even though everyone else would get it. |
| 07-23-2007, 07:35 AM | #13 |
Ahh, he's one of the classes I didn't try yet. Why didn't it work? Did it only ping to allies, or what? |
| 07-23-2007, 04:00 PM | #14 |
He has been working on this map solo for months. I still remember his first topic about this. |
| 07-23-2007, 04:44 PM | #15 | |
It just didn't work. I don't know why, but nothing happened when I used it. Besides, when playing, it's smart to stick to your pack. They shouldn't need to know where you are. Quote:
