Problem with items and marketplaces

I used the action "Add Item-type (To Marketplace)" specifying 1 in stock with a max stock of 5. The item is also set to a max stock of 5 in the object editor. It gets added fine and sure enough it starts stockpiling and stops at 5 but the problem is that if I go to buy the item at any time they all disappear from the store even though only the gold for one of them has been spent. And they never restock in the store afterwards. Is that all I get? Or am I doing something wrong? Can't you just add the item and have it behave like it was sold by that store all along?

Are you sure you have no other triggers that might cause it to be removed? Also, I don't believe that it works well when the shop is owned by Neutral Passive. Try Neutral Extra.

I would like to say I think it's the Marketplace itself causing the problem, but then again, I really haven't messed with the Marketplace thing much.

You could always use an alternate where you make an ability for each item you want, give it to a Neutral Passive shop, disable/enable abilities accordingly, and let players command these abilities to create the item and give it to whoever is shop selected.

That's a bit complicated but it's a worse-case scenario thing.

It may be the multiple stock, i'm fairly sure Marketplaces are hardcoded to only sell 1 of each item type.

I am having a similar problem at the moment on my map.
I add 5 starting with 5 max - 4 different unit types.
It works fine mostly, but after a while I noticed that the first button had disappeared. A little while later, the second had disappeared. But never while I was watching. I haven't investigated much as to the cause yet, but there's nothing in my map to 'remove unit type from marketplace'.

This person seems to have had the opposite problem I had somehow, but I don't quite understand what he is talking about: http://www.wc3campaigns.net/showthread.php?t=92024

Perhaps if it is being sold by the store in the first place and I try using triggers to remove it? By the way this is an item I want to have for sale only for a certain game mode in my game, so by default it wouldn't be for sale. For another game mode I will have the opposite situation where I will want to remove a regular item from the shop. I guess I will have to do some more experimenting.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't work.
