Life In Terra

Hello. I'm new at mapmaking, but an idea struck me a little while ago: Make a new, non-rigged LoaP that has to do with one of my favorite (Tabletop and Video) game: Warhammer 40,000. The game takes place in a city on the Imperium planet of "Terra", hence the name "Life in Terra". I have come up with 6 heros so far: the Space Marine, Scout Marine, Assault Marine, Space Marine Terminator, Female Apocathary (for girl players which join ever-so-often), and Renegade Grotz. Here's a list of the abilities, with the class first, then the name of the ability, and it's description.

  • Space Marine: Brothers of Battle: The Space Marine inspires his brothers with ferocity; increases the damage dealt by the Space Marine and his brothers.

Charge: The Space Marine enters a righteous rage for the will of the God-Emperor; increases damage dealt and taken, and increases movement speed.

Melta Bomb: The marine tosses a powerful grenade that deals heavy damage in an area of effect and makes the targets slow.

Airstrike: The marine calls down waves of devastating missles from space that deal alot of damage to his surroundings. Use this with caution, because it harms everything, discluding the marine.

Scout Marine: Aimed Shot: The Scout Marine aims down on a target and fires a powerful Inferno Bolt at it, and burns the target over time.

Infiltration: The Scout Marine becomes invisible for a short time, letting him wander about without being seen.

    Melta Bomb and Airstrike

Assault Marine: Jump Jets: The Assault Marine soars through the air on his powerful Jump-Jets, and, as he descends, he deals damage to any enemies around him. |c00000000Energy cost and cooldown decreases with level.

Aerial Dodge: The Assault Marine uses his Jump Jets to suddenly move out of the way of gunfire; gives a chance for enemies to miss him.

    Melta Bomb and Airstrike

Space Marine Terminator: Teleportation Matrix: The Terminator teleports a short distance away using a Teleportation Matrix inside of his Power Armour.

    Charge, Airstrike, and Melta Bomb

Female Apocathary: Cure Wounds: The Apocathary injects a special muscle and skin regenerating liquid into the target's bloodstream, healing damage slowly.

Poisonous Injection: The Apocathary injects a lethal poison into the target, reducing his armor and damages it over time.

    Charge and Airstrike

Renegade Grotz: Flee!: "There's danger? RUN!" Grotz run very fast when it comes to danger, so fast that you cant see them. Increases movement speed and makes the Grotz invisible.

Anger Issues: "You made me mad... I KILL YOU NOW!" Grotz have short tempers when it comes to anything but Orks, making them a deadly force in any sort of fight. Increases damage dealt and taken, as well as movement speed.

Very Fast Gunz: "We'z Grotz gotz' fasta shooting den' dem' hummies! Yeah... we do!" Grotz know how to shoot really fast in a short amount of time. The Grotz fires a boltpistol rapidly in the target area, dealing damage and stunning.

10,000 Fists: "You will rememba' da' night you waz' struck by da' side of 10,000 fists in da' air!" Grotz have many secrets, including their hidden talent for kung-fu. The Grotz beats the target, lifts him into the air, and pummels him with 10,000 (not really) punches, then throws him to the ground, dealing mega damage.

Well, I hope you like them.
  • So far I finished 2 jobs, put in a decent reviving system, but there are still some bugs im working out. The first job, Mainframe Manager, is quite simple. You go to the "Mainframe", recieve the "Mainframe Data", then hand it to the Terminators guarding the door for some green stuff (money). The second job, Nurse, has the same principles as the first; get "Medication" from large containers opposite the room, then hand them to the Terminal.
  • I also added a marrige system. In real life marriges, either a Priest or a Judge marries people. On Terra, however, high-ranking Space Marines marry people. In this case, an Inquisitor marries a couple. After a really short text-message, another one appears and says: -The couple puts a ring on eachother's finger, then kiss passionatly-. Personally, I think its a little more realistic than normal LoaPs.
  • I was planning on adding a first person/arrow key movement system, which I did, but it raised the mapsize from 4 mb to 7, which is brutal on B.Net. I ALWAYS get a lagger and/or dial-up user or worse. Therefore I removed it, but I still have bugs left-over. The triggers are messed up, and I need to get down to bug-killing business.

Holy crap! Sextuple post? There's an edit post button for a reason.

Also, if you're posting a project you'll need a lot more before you can expect any useful feedback.

You could just edit your first post...

And butters says "I'm a bad bear..." in the Paris Hilton episode "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset". I love that episode.

Good idea. (Off-topic) And yeah, I love Southpark, but I never familiarize myself with episode names... I'm one of those people that says something like "You know that episode with Paris Hilton? The one where she pays Butters' family so he could dress up as a bear?" (On-Topic) Editing post... one sec.

Is my description good or do you think it needs a little more?

You should use the
Code:
[list][/list]
function and break your ideas down into groups to make it easier to read.

I see the map size is 4mb... On b.net, it's hard to find someone with the patience to download a 4mb map, you should avoid too many custom models/skins if you can. Also, you can only host maps up to 4mb on b.net, if it gets any larger, you can't play. If you need any more help aim me or pm me.

Good luck.

Screens are always a plus. It's good that you have so many ideas, but without screens, they're just that; ideas.
