Compared to WE, of course. My hopes: - Improve JASS to vJASS standards. Structs, no parsing crashes, etc. - More high level functions, like "DoesPathExistFromAToB(A, B, flags)" - Rolling/pitching units (SetUnitRotationMatrix would be AWESOME) - Multiple monitor support - "Don't animate main window constantly" option My crazy hope: - "Map Validation" using public-key encryption. Maps can be digitally signed by users or time-stamped by battle.net. No more "your map is rigged" or "you copied (insert rip-off of your map)" BS when an unprotected version gets out. |

I hope it doesn't use Jass and vJass' syntax is awful. Edit: I won't buy that game if it does not have a Linux version. |

My wish is that you have just a more powerful trigger-editor (More than 8192 arrays, loops long as you want...). |

Hopes: A mix of old StarCraft programming combined with a good 3D engine. (One such effect in StarCraft modding was attacking with 50+ number of missiles, and this was BASIC.) To keep the StarCraft feel. (I think Blizzard is forgetting that StarCraft isn't WarCraft. Gosh, so many quotes I've heard so far is so WarCraftish. Dang.) No rip-off. All OS compatibility. Uber map protection/signature type thing option. Excellence overall. |

Evidently not. |

There are so many things the starcraft trigger editor would let you do that take 10x less time to do than in warcraft III, but the warcraft III trigger editor in turn lets you do more things (albeit slower) than in starcraft. I would love it to be as easy and optimized as starcraft while even more flexible and powerful than warcraft III. |

If there gonna be a Graphical User Interface for triggering i would hope for no BJ's. Also some things like saving datas online (like the gc for offline maps), etc. There are so many things i hope for, but we'll see what will come. |

Although not as ambitious, a single line of code that acted like a dummy caster would save me tons of time, even though I usually copy/past the same dummy code. |

I would go the other direction: keep the BJs but actually give them a purpose. For example, all BJs could have their own clean-up code along with boolean parameters to use/ignore it. That would eliminate almost all memory leaks and make it easier on the new guy. |

According to an issue of PC Gamer was a quote like "a complete rookie can complete a full map in 10 - 15 minutes. Imagine what an expert can do!". This said, you can be sure you'll find a bunch of good stuff. Here are some of the things I am hoping for. - A PATHING LAYER!!! And perhaps multi-tier support so a unit can like cross under or over a bridge kinda stuff. - A myriad of other useful functions such as GetCursorLoc and a bunch of other cursor related returns like x,y,z for fps capability. - With kinetic displacment as claimed by Blizzard a Zealot can move through say a bunch of rocks and rubble and there legs move over, step on and what not realisticaly. Perhaps a bunch of physic related functions and capapability in the editor. - Nice and clean, not all clumpy like WE. Buildings will explode with debris being calculated realistically, so a physics environment is possible. If you compare the capabilities of the SC editor (not a lot at all) to WE (well a hel of a lot more) maybe we can expect the same difference. An editor with a shit load of cool stuff. Blizzard has demonstrated being able to keep up with the times. I have faith in them. They rarely lt you down. They also claim to try to keep as much of that old StarCraft feel while providing a whole new experience. And you can be sure they will provide a GUI. SUPPORT FOR THE MIDDLE MAN!! Also, things that you had to go far out of your way to achieve may be easy in the SC2 editor. |
