"Defend the Bunker" ideas

Hello everyone!

I am currently working on a "Defend the Bunker" type map, which can be found here. Although, there has been numerous changes since that version.

I do not expect you to download and play the map.
I just want ideas from your mind.

Heroes
Please keep in mind that the heroes are Marine-based.
With that being said, what kind of Marine-type heroes would you like to see in the game? What kind of abilities would you like them to see?

Items
What kind of items do you want to see in the game? Do you want to see Marines being able to equip different types of weapons? What kind of items do you want to see to defend the bunker or destroy enemies?

Gameplay
Gameplay tends to get boring after a defending the bunker for a certain period of time. What would you suggest for additional gameplay? Random events? Bosses?

Enemies
Of course, we need enemies attacking our bunker? What kind of enemies would you like to see attack the bunker? What kind of abilities do you want some enemies to have to twist the gameplay around?

I would like to thank you for reading this and please feel free to reply with your ideas or constructive opinions about the map.

Tide-Arc Ephemera
Marine based theme... damn... not my area of element...

ITEMS
Fissure Beam - (Orb) Equips the attacks with imbued energy, giving them X extra damage and a 15% chance to send a shock wave of ground-breaking energy (based on impale).
Uranium Rounds - 60 charges. Each attack deals X extra damage and gives attacked units radiation poisoning dealing Y damage per second for a few seconds. Each attack takes off a charge.
Neptunium Rounds - 60 charges. Each attack deals X extra damage and slows the attacked units by Y% in attack and movement for a few seconds.
Plutonium Rounds - 60 charges. Each attack deals X extra damage and gives a Y% chance to stun for a few seconds.

ABILITIES
Neutron Grenade - Hurls a grenade at target area, dealing X damage upon detonation and leaving toxic waste behind, dealing further damage and slowing.
Confusion - Generate a gigantic bolt of light, confusing up to X random units for Y seconds. Confused units will attack random units.

That's all I can think of that's not purely elemental based at the moment...

You might want to be a little specific, if this' not to your tastes. Here's what I came up with.
To save a little space.

Iron-Blood Brigade
-:These fellows revel in being where they can't be, fighting as they shouldn't, and doing as they want. Decked out in customized robotics upgrades, generally of a poor quality, and loaded with stimulants. Started as a peaceful protest until "Mack Daddy Jiz" got the whole movement together in a big pow-wow and used force, shooting the dissenters at close range with rifles, to bring them all under his banner. Usually the recruits are herded into one of three main camps:
1) "Smashed": Optimized for carnage up close, they have a reworked skeletal system allowing them to take the structural stress of doing what they do best, running up to things and knocking them down.
2) Sick Mothers: Short a for a word that shall not be mentioned, these usually carry a long range gun with them, and house their ammo inside a carrying case, usually an implant in their bodies. Usually regarded as just one large group of sadists for their trademark explosive bullets, which tend to pop unprotected heads like grapes.
3) Merchants: These are the craftsmen and women of the whole operation, keeping most of the best bionics for themselves, turning them into a show of whatever they happen to be best at making, whether it be constructing production lines for mass-produced stimmies, or for ocular enhancements, or for bigger, better guns. They are by far the most specialized, and the deadliest of them could be considered as second-in-commands to Jiz.

Whatever their strength, they have failed to spread to other worlds as a result of their universal bad press. That may help, but makes them no less of a problem here.
