Tyronar ORPG

The Story is going great! Classes are needed...
Tell me what you think of the story sofar

Tyronar ORPG is a massive ORPG that is to be set in over 15 maps 96x96(90% in this size) - 192x192(Very few in this size) in size. You pick your class out of 4 classes and traverse through the maps leveling until you reach 60, doing whatever you want, from Quests to grinding, to exploring the world!

The world of Tyronar is set upon a large Island in the Northwestern part of a world. It has 5 zones, each containing 5+ maps. You start in a zone called Tekkrotar in a small village in the middle. Sofar, Tekkrotar is my basis of work and has very far to go. You can see a map of Tekkrotar including all the maps and the level ranges drawn in. Tekkrotar is in the middle of Tyronar Isle with Churaman to the north and Dra'Nakthar to the south. There are two other zones that are linked to those.

I have an XP system that doesn't use the standard WC3 Hero XP System, so that I can completly control the XP needed to gain levels. It uses a multiboard with a progress bar like that in Azeroth Grand Prix and works quite well. The arrow keys control the Angle of Attack and Rotation of the camera and lets you look in alot of directions. The scroll wheel on a mouse zooms in a little bit to get you closer to your char.

The Classes & races

NOTE: All races start in Tekkrotar Woods

To be continued...

(The Project could be finished without help, but the quality would be reduced due to the fact that i am not an expert at every single aspect of map editing, and it would take much longer to finish.)
I need lots in these areas:
-Terraining
-Triggering
-Questing
-Custom Units and Abilities
-Ideas (very helpful)

Any volunteers? Credit will go to the people that help on this massive project!

Please help make it a reality!

I do not think is it very possible by myself, so i need help in alot of areas, mainly terraining because i am FAR from the best terrainer.

But...think logically and possibly..50 maps is too many to 1. play and to 2. make. You won't want to finish them in the end and any team you may assemble wont want to work for 50 maps especially if they have no guarantee how this project will turn out. Lower your standards a bit, this just isn't going to happen the way you're planning it. Think about this a little more before you attempt it, right now it looks like you're just spilling out a crazy idea but not a possible idea you need to rethink it some more.

I will probably have to reconsider... But keep in mind this is only the beginning ideas of a project beginning to sprout, and all the ideas aren't set in stone, not at all. =D

Only two levels per map? It is silly, it means brutal supression of the RPG element. You should decrease the number of maps (and I guess you will) to cca 10. I could be still doable and...it would be still really grand. Wow, I would like to play something grand like this in wc3!

I'm still trying to find a way to vastly reduce the number of maps to less than 20, but it is hard to make the scope of the world that i want with 20 maps... I will have to think about it more! Help is still welcome

I'm sure you don't actualy have enough content to fill even 10 128x128 maps, so, if you need more than 20 maps to present your world then you have too much empty space between parts of the content.

I'm sorry you feel that way

I want to have content, but no one is willing to help to create content!!

It seems like no one is liking the idea...

You need to create the content yourself.

Right now I'm currently working on the story behind Tyronar and the three worlds. Once it is done, I will have plenty of content to add to the game, and all this content is mine

On itself, the project doesn't sound bad. You just have to keep several things in mind, as others pointed out, it would be too massive to make, even for an entire team of mappers. Some pointers:
- Think about the players that would be going at the map, what would they like, 50 maps or maybe a bit less? I know that I for one, wouldn't even think about starting on a 50-map campaign.
- Work out your ideas first, then decide how many parts the campaign needs. Get an overview. You can always add additional quests and such later, a 128x128 map is big, you'll find out.
- Create the first map by yourself first. In this you can make basic terrain, but at least finish the main character(s) and create some basic content. Then you'd have something to display here. If it's good, it'll attract other mappers to help you.

I for one, offer to help you terraining the first map. If you create the first map, with basic terrain looks and the units and some quests implemented, I'll terrain it for you. (Also mind the basic systems, like the XP-system you spoke of and any other backbones.)

Thanx for your help! But this project will be put on hold for a week :emote sad: for i am leaving for a week. When i come back, i will make contact with you and we can start on that first map.

I'm seriousely thinking about reducing all the maps size, so a 128*128 would be a 96*96, which is barely over half of the playing area of a 128*128.

What i have setup is a category that has the XP multiboard and all the XP amounts are stored in the common gamecache, the QuestSystem, which is Shadow1500 auto quest system with some extra functions to make it easier to use, is very useful in this map and it takes a few minutes to add a nice quest with full functionality.
I don't know which tileset to use for Tekkrotar. Lordaeron Summer is too bland, and i need one to keep people interested right when they start. I have some time today to start though, so post again if you wanna start today Angelusz.
