I wish to know how can i make a fiery effect similar to that of immolation. Im currently working on a project and im trying to make a 3D sun, i have the texture and i wanted to add a fiery effect but i dont know how to do it. I thought of having a plane behind it but how can i make it that the fiery glow always faces the camera My sun ![]() The fiery glowy things from immolation ![]() |

Billboarded plane. Though I'd suggest doing it with particle emitters, so instead of just rotating or whatnot, it looks more dynamic. Particles are automatically billboarded too, so I don't need to explain anything. :D Since I don't know what you're using, I'll suggest adding them in Magos' Model Editor, which contains tutorials on emitters. There are also more/better tuts floating around. |

Im using 3ds Max 7, i have an mdx omporter but not and exporter so i cant transfer it to the magos. Do u know how i can create a billboard plane in 3ds max instead? |

Well, billboarding is a property you apply to bones in Warcraft, so I'd assume it's something similar in Max. But I don't know for sure, since I'm a Milkshape man. |

you can't create a billboarded plane for wc3 in 3ds max unless you have max 5 and the art tools. As far as I know... |

Ok ive managed to work around that, but now ive come across another problem. Im using lens Effects>Ring to create a glowy effect, the problem is that i also added orbits, now for some reason the Mercury and Venus orbits multiply the ring effect: Without orbits ![]() With orbits ![]() Without Mercury and Venus Orbits ![]() |
