Best, Free art program(s)

Well, I'm considering branching out my talents a bit, and maybe try some icon work. I've got GIMP already, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other good (or better), free, art programs I can get?

Well, it turns out GIMP has a lot more features then I previously thought, I was just looking in the wrong spots...
