I was wondering if someone could post Gmax on this thread since it's no longer free...

Also, if you know any good modeling tools post em here.
Also, can blender make animations?

Where the hell did you get the idea that gmax is no longer free?
http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

Of course blender can make animations!!!! But of course you couldn't have possibly looked at blender's features on it's official website...As for modeling tools they have already been mentioned in this forum hundreds of times.

you can't open mdl with blender. No one has written any wc3 tools for blender so far. Use 3ds max/gmax and an mdx/mdl importer script.

And gmax can do everything you need, Animation, Skinning (i think its called unwrapping but im not sure) Modeling, you name it, Gmax can do it (cant make textures though) the only thing better then Gmax is 3dsmax ($3500+ though)

it's insane if you want to buy it for your own use, and one would be a moron to do it. It's usually companies that buy it and for them it's quite cheap, trust me. If you don't make profit with it, then the dark side is ok. But I already said too much.

I don't think freelance artists get the copies of it on their machines from companies, so I guess you need to buy it yourself at some point anyway if you're really into that industry thing...

freelancers work at the company's office for the duration of the contract, so the computer and software belongs to the company and it's most likely licenced. If you work as a freelancer from a distance and you don't have licensed copies of the software you could be in very big trouble. But big companies usually never accept freelance work unless you come and work at their office.
