MY first icon...

I finally started using Photoshop for icons and well...

This is my first icon, as far as I can tell it's what I want it to be... it's an orb of energy.

It's a little... vague, but as I see it it's an orb with streaks of energy flowing through it.

About my black hole one... this is what I tried to make it from...

My black hole... This black hole was made purely from scratch and it took quite a bit of imagination for me before I could think of the right combinations of stuff...

1. Energy Orb
2. Green/Radioactive/Mystical Ripples
3 & 4. Star Clock or a possible staff of some sort (Imagination makes it what you want it to be)
5. Black hole

Opinions would be nice.

LOL the first icons looks like IE icon :P

I thought it looked strangely familiar to something, any opinions on the others?

BTW: What does IE means? Internet Explorer?

I like the effects of the first 2, the last 2 are okay, but that metal rod looks out of place. I would try convert them into some magic seeing ball or planet thing.

Hm... I don't know what to replace the metal rod with... I would like to try and avoid repetition... hm... I'll see what I can do.

EDIT! I simply can't think of anything that would 'fix' 3&4...
EDIT2! I added a fifth icon... a black hole...

I really like how you've made the fifth icon (the Black Hole). It looks so bad assed. +Rep

Great Icons. i Think you have got some talent if only it could be used for a purpose... like on a few of my games.

Anyway Super Rad

The black hole one is quite good, the first two are just filtered stuff and the third one is too unclear for my taste.

it doesnt look much like a black hole to me, more like a planet with rings around it, with some lightning. but then again, my vision of a black hole is a swirling black vortex.
i like the orb icon tho very nice.

It's good for first icons but it needs to be improved. The bigger problem is that all your icon are 1 color + black and white, try more colors, nice details etc.

Definetly better than my first icon.

They are just a mess, a blob and another blob. Stay away from filters for icons.

I really like the black hole one. If this seriously is your first time using Photoshop for icons, well you've got some talent there.
