Hello, I'm working on a map called Mario Kart, and I have got the triggers down nicely...BUT I'm not very good at terraining. My first two tracks look OK to me but im sure to the experianced...or not so experianced...eye it's just horrible. My triggers have nothing to do with the terrain so if you have a great idea i can erase everything and start with new, fresh terrain. I'm not sure how to post a pic...(i know im stupid) but i can post a copy of the map...PLEASE dont steal it. |

Mario as in Mario Brothers? Now its been a long while since I played Mario (Like when it first came out) If my recall is anything on point the "Mario" world was rather simple, with cartoon like features - Large rounded mushrooms, and simple "lollipop-like" trees. 1 2 3 - not really useful as terrain. Best option is for floating text like you used on GO!. In fact you should use the text as people collect stuff. Instead of pillars on snow, Try circle of powers - Remove control from the players or replace the unit with one without moving ability, First, Second and Third place winners for all players. (See Picture 2) At the end of the race you should have a message Player XX in First Player YY in Second Player ZZ in Third. You can stack player starting positions - that way the camera will be on the same starting unit for all players. When players select a unit you should have some clue as to where they go. Instead of rock chunks you may want to use Force wall. In the first image I used 2 of them, brought in the walls and drew a line indicating the starting line. For your game you may want to set the camera at a steep angle for all players zoomed out so folk can see the starting line. I also used an arrow to give an indication as to what direction people are going. Second image is the end of race one. Here I used a customized large circle of power, increased to 4.0 - Red is first place, blue is second place yellow is third place. I added energy field on each circle of power - I also used sun wells, and lowered them slightly. The camera angle would lower a tad and move out to include all of the winners then perhaps scroll over to the losers cage. You could use a crowd of neutrals around - separate them from the winners with low wall or fence and order them to all move too the center of the circle - they will jostle and move against the fences trying to get to the winner - ya know like a cheering crowd. Nice your using all of those buildings... but all we see are roofs from the top down view. You also need more arrows in the map - like what I used at the start line to give some indication of which way folk are supposed to go. Either terrain clues or you can use customized pathless doodads like the low walls - reduce their size to about half and build an arrow (See picture 3) I include a quick example. As for posting images. The "easiest" using the paint program is to open up paint, get what you want on your screen and hit the "print screen" button on your keyboard. Then in paint hit control v or go through the menu options and paste. From there you can edit/crop/resize the image. It will also work in the game, however you can only do one image then either hit alt tab to move back to the paint program (can take a bit of time depending on your system and how much is running). Unless you have a program to open up the pictures located in this file: C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Screenshots convert images to Jpeg- I usually shrink them down to 70 to 80 percent to save space and to make it quicker to view them. |
