there are many images. I don't like the dirt roads they are unnatural. The waterfall isn't smooth. I like the destroyed building part and the wooden bridge model. It is improvable but okay. |

the dirt roads do look a bit strange, do u think i should have blended them more with grassy dirt? or used cobbles? i wanted it to look as if it were newly made, like the town was just starting out, and the water fall isnt meant to be smooth, its all rocky and uneven, hence all the rocks and uneven-ness, you cant realy see from that angle but the rest of the statue that the hand comes from is under the water fall, so the water has to flow around it. and wat bits can be improved exactly? also what type of stuff looks better? no for an...UPDATE!!! Panda island: A few shots of the small part of a map i made for my ingame shots of my panda sailor for a skinning contest, which (seeing as no1 else officialy entered) i won ! Time temple: Made for a 'Time Monk' RPG, i never finished it, i barley even started =P the shots are of the temple, before and after it was destroyed, ignore the strange tiles around the temple PANDA 1 - Panda and his boat, on an island 2 - Panda and his boat, from the mountains, noticed the fact that it is unfinished 3 - Panda has a feeling he is being followed by ninjas, he is correct, can u spot the ninja?* TEMPLE 1 - The temeple from the portal 2 - The temple and surrounding walls 3 - The temple from high up 4 - Temple from down low 5 - The portal 6 - Portal details, im heaps proud of it 7 - destroyed temple You may notice that i never finish maps, thats coz i have no motivation, but good ideas *the ninja is hiding in the furtherest away bottle, hes hard to spot coz hes realy tiny |

I realy like the panda isle and the mountains in the back are realy good. I don't like the second one very much. the building on the 4th and 5th is pretty oaky but whats with the black stuff? I like the detroyed temple and the potal is nice. i ill igve you a +rep for your effort. keep improving. :-) Also the skins are great. Panda lives |

thats where the ninja is! his scale is 0.10 so hes pretty small yeah i liked those mountains aswell, they are so simple looking, but they turned out realy good, also the second shot was pretty much just to show that it wasnt finished, as u can see by the water falls, and the lack of water in the top right and left. now about the black stuff, i couldnt be bothered fixing it proper, but its the abyss tile from outlands, except it doesnt hav a cliff or anything leading into it, so i looks retarded =D also if ur wondering why the skins are so blurry, its coz i worked on them at 128X128 insted of 512X512 -.- now for another... UPDATE!!! War of Elemental Fury + Warhammer-craft These maps are playable, and hopefuly they look ok aswell, that was my main aim. make decent, playable maps that dont take up too much space. War of Elemental Fury this is a pretty basic map, its a 3 teams DotA style map, all teams get a spawn, who spawn in the battle area, it will be very fast paced, and each game will only last 30 minutes or so, the terrain had to be playable, and match each of the elements, Lightning, Fire and Earth (every1 will be a panderan btw) Warhammer-craft this map was mainly to implement the terrain effects of Warhammer, in a warcraft map. the effects are shown in pic WHC5, the map will be like so, each person starts off with 1 city (this is a 4 player map right now) and they get 500 gold to buy heros, items, units, and upgrades, from each of the army building areas, then their army will grow/shrink depending on their wins and losses, and the territories they hold, and their actions. if they attack another city then a battle will be fought in the battle arena (different for each city, only 1 is shown) and if they win they get the city. pretty much the same as a Warhammer campain. Pics WEF 1 - over view of WEF, notice the different doodads used to emphasise each element 2 - the gate where u can choose to choose fire, lots of fire, and in the back u can see the main base, a giant volcano! 3 - fire main base, and a tower 4 - the rock gate, its very sturdy, and in the back is the main base, a gold mine, u can also see the towers 5 - lightning gate, lots of lightning, 6 - lighning main base, and a lightning tower, also in the bottem left you can see the portal to the areana 7 - the final pic of WEF showing the battle arena, each side has 2 towers each. Warhammer-Craft 1 - cant realy see much of the terrain, but u can see that the other team has the advantage, being higher up, and getting a range bonus 2 - overview of the map Bottem left, the mini map or campain map, where the players chose the actions of their armies, top left, the army building area, right, one of the maps showing the areas around one of the cities (notice all the wisps on this map, more about them latter) 3 - two sides face off, both sides are up high, gaining ranged bonuses, but the blue have reduced movement speed, as the rocky ground is treacherous 4 - a closer look at the mini map, showing the 6 locations, more will be added latter, every thing had to be made on a small scale, which was interesting, left of the bridge u can see the army markers, showing where each army is residing. there will be other options rather then 'invade' you could mine in the rocky bits for extra money, or you could send a sneak attack etc etc. 5 - this pic shows a part of the map that has many wisps. they have permanent invisibility and locus, and latter will be scaled down realy small, but they are easier to work with like this, the red circled ones offer extra armour to those close buy, but decreased movement, the yellow ones offer a range bonus, green ones greatly reduce speed and blue ones greatly increase speed. this is the first map ive heard of that uses a terrain effects system, but im sure there are plenty of them. i thought it would be more intersting if excelent terrain could have an effect on gameplay. |

First one: * too green * the river looks bad - see here River tut Second one: The regions are done badly - the region models take a look how they are stabbed in the land. Well I will comment later the rest |
| 09-02-2007, 01:21 AM | #9 |
well the river looks retarded because it is only 1 tile wide, and the map is too green because its a play-able map, but ill try to remember to mix it up in other maps =P and whats a region model? the only thing i can think of is the circles of power, but they arent stabbed, and their arent any actual regions shown, plz explain this, i cant fix if i dont know wat to fix |
| 09-02-2007, 10:43 AM | #10 |
yea the circles of power I call them regions heh, they are pt on the terrain witch isn't smooth and it doesn't look good - second image from the back |
| 09-03-2007, 11:29 AM | #11 |
yeah i know wat u mean, i think its mainly because the terrain had to be so sharp because it was so small, but i think i can fix it by using more doodads, and by shrinking the circle down a bit, i was trying to make the miniaturised terrain look good, but it was realy hard, any tips for making miniture terrain? |
| 09-03-2007, 06:22 PM | #12 |
Well I tried it once and I was bad at it but try to make everything big first and then shrink it. |
| 09-06-2007, 01:27 PM | #13 |
i think the main problem with wat i did was that i only changed the scaling values of the objects, not the pathing maps, so stuff is wierdly spaced out =S ill stick the next update on once my net has finished having a sad |
