Attack Detection Theory

I've heard tell that "Attack" is actually a spell (from notable people, but I can't remember their names >_>).

If, in fact, it is a spell, then perhaps attack detection can be reached by detecting when it uses Attack? (I just realized that it might detect before the damage hits, but this is a theory.)

So, possible or not really useful?

I don't see attack as an ability (under the Ability tab and the ability condition), and I don't think there is one. Besides, there are ways to detect attacks already (in the tutorial section).

I remember reading that somewhere too, Hydro.

But if it IS, I don't see it in Abilities. If you guys do, please tell me where.

If attacks triggered the spell event then I think we would have noticed that already.

try displaying a debug msg when a unit starts the effect of a spell

you will notice nothing until a "real" spell is cast, never on attacks

it is an event in of itself, like a spell

In conclusion, this entire topic is silly.

Not realy. If you open the ability .slk file, you can see that being a Hero actually is an ability. It may just be possible that attack is an ability (although I doubt it), and even if it is it isnt triggered by a unit starts the effect of an ability, anyways.
