Cid's Workshop

Summary:
Anyone who is a fan of Square-Enix's Final Fantasy franchise will undoubtedly be familiar with the character Cid who has appeared in games for over a decade now. While Cid has taken on many professions over the years the spotlight as a primary character has consistently eluded him. In Cid's Workshop, players will control Cid and his subordinates in an innovative adventure to explore and create as they use their mechanical genius to develop inventions to aid them as the plot reveals mysterious happenings in the country's capitol city.

Objective:
The world of Cid's Workshop is largely non-linear in nature, allowing players to progress through the central story-arc as they wish, while accomplishing side-quests along the way. Even after the primary story has been completed players can continue to explore and create new inventions in the workshop if they so choose. Players will have full command over Cid, his workers and his creations to: explore the vast world and meet new friends and foes, acquire parts and harvest raw-materials in the wild and battle with numerous monsters and villains.

Features:
• Create and customize items, weapons and units in the Workshop included (but not limited to):
• mechanical golems
• reflect mail
• fire bombs
• The Enterprise Airship
• Random and static monster spawns
• Dozens of recipes to be discovered
• Extensive quests offered by many individuals seeking Cid's expertise
• Freedom to concentrate on the story or item creation
• A twisted tale of deception full of surprises

The project is currently in early development stages, and I appreciate any feedback offered.

Thanks,
LD

No one will beleive you until you post screens.

Sounds great.

I can imagine a fun game made from this idea, but I guess there's not much else to say since you just started. Keep this post updated.

Does your fun idea involve moogles, kupo?

Thanks for the positive response so far.

I hadn't planned on including moogles or even chocobo for that matter, but if I happen across a good model for one, I may see if I can throw it in there for good measure.

You got to have Moogles, the FFIX way! Those are the best and look the cutest.

This sounds like a cool project, I wish you the best of luck.

What you NEED is a modeller for the project. I'm SURE someone will want to help.

I can model but since I'd rather spend my time working on the other aspects of the map having some help is a nice though.

I spent part of the weekend sketching the world map (256x256) and terraining, and still have lots to go.

I won't dl this unles you get some custom models.

If there's one thing I hate it's when people make maps about characters you know and they're really just WC3 units.

I agree completely.

Since Cid himself has undergone so many different transformations I will probably model him after the character from FFIV, released as FFII in the US.

I'm not at a place where I want to worry about the models used for units yet though, I save cosmetic work for the end.

A very, very good project with a very, very good idea. I like the things here. They somehow innovative and creates a fresh new world when you imagine it. The enterprise airship sounds great in my opinion and so is the other aspects but I was more thinking in the line of a custom model of an airship... So cool man! This surely got me excited!
