LAST test for the Wc3 Image Extractor

Check the new thread here

Edited because: Fixed it, it now works for win98 too!.

Here is the newest testversion.

I know for a fact that it can do .tga -> .blp
-- IN RETAIL THE CUSTOM FILES SHOULD GO IN WAR3PATCH.MPQ--
-- BACK IT UP FIRST!! --

Edited because:
Some more instructions:
This tool requires the ijl15.dll and storm.dll from the warcraft III install dir.
You can either copy them into the tool dir, or copy the tool into the Warcraft III dir (your choice)
.

AND it can openup the .mpq files of the retail! (allmost like in the pre-crash version)

Well... [REMOVED OLD LINK INFO]
Greetz,
DJBnJack

Ps. the .tga -> .blp only works on textures at the moment... but should suffice for skins.

hmm I used this nice tool, but in my WE it isn't really functionable... what did I do wrong?
I tried to change the skin of the Acolyte

but in the WE it just looks like that:

Maybe you know what the problem is?

Here is a zip file with the new Acolyte skin in TGA and in BLP.. would nice if anyone could check it..

hmm.. what grapic program/utility did u use for editing the tga?

I think this is the problem...

Maybe mine had some problems with the alpha channels

I believe that Paint Shop Pro doesn't handle 32 bpp TGA files. I'm guessing that if PSP meets a TGA file with an Alpha channel, it simply discards it. As for saving it again, it would then be a 24bpp TGA instead of 32bit.

Assuming that the textures used on the Models are infact 32bit, this could be the cause of the problem?

It should be fine in Photoshop - I seem to remember that photoshop does handle the alpha channel OK. It may be worth checking the bpp of the tga file before you convert it to blp.

Hope this helps,

Ok - Guess it was something else then? What software were you using Tekyriel?

(To DJBnJack) I don't know how your program handles TGA's (And I can't play with any software until I leave this cursed work place), but something to consider is when your program gets input from a TGA format it doesn't understand - to print an error. I only say this, because I've seen a lot of game tools which don't do this, and for the sake of checking a few header variables, and spitting out an error if it's the wrong type of TGA, it can prevent many strange problems in the future..

Again, if it already does this, I apologise for the spam. But this looks to be that sort of error. Another question, to Cookie - does that work in the World Editor?

Right, I think I've said enough for not playing with the software yet..

Hope something here helps DJBnJack.

Telumehtar=Ive used paint shop pro v.7, so basically there is nothing wrong with your software.

The way I fixed is to copy the entire top image and pasted it on the acolyte.tga original. This should fix all incorrect savings, mask problems etc

I always copy the modified image over the original one, as it will maintain any data etc.

btw the last screenshot is ingame
