I'm editing the Arthas model.. some help please?

I'm using Milkshape to edit this model. I'm trying to convert him into (movie) Aragorn. As you can probably see I made it simpler by deleting some stuff. Now I could just make a skin for it, but I want to use in game textures. I've been reading all these tutorials here and good heavens but I was over loaded with information. So if you can help with this, you have my thanks :D

Note that I only have Milkshape, and not 3Dsmax.

And also, will the original animation follow or do I have to re-assign them later?

Looks like you've made too many major changes to the size and shape to get the real ArthasWithSword animations glued on.

But what do you actually need help with?

Ah thanks for replying.
I want to:

1. Attach animation (especially since you said it's gone now). Will using Animation Transfer work or should I just download GMax and re animate? (although I suppose this is a pretty tough model to actually start learning modelling/animating. Should've started with a ward or something lol)
2. Use in-game textures. I see lots of people here (the really good ones) using various in-games for bits and parts of their models and I want to try this.

Obtain the Guesst's Milkshape exporter if you haven't already.

All you need to do is extract your appropriate in-game textures, work with them as you would any other, and in the material comment, put "Path: Textures\Blargh.blp" or whatever -- pointing to the original texture in the MPQ.

If you want to animate yourself, do it in Milkshape. Really.

If you want to glue onto existing in-game animations... Well, it's long, tough, and doesn't always give perfect results.

Hmm I've been tinkering with it for a while now, but I'm still a bit confused about animating it in Milkshape. Let me take another look at some tutorials and see if I can get it right.

Thanks again. Too bad I can't rep you again for some reason lol.

Okay here's the deal:
About animating:
I decided to start animating something else just to get used to animating in Milkshape.. I tried making a primitive humanoid with boxes and cylinders and adding joints and animating that. But when I assigned to joints to the groups, I am not sure if I need to click the button where it says 'fix'. I mean, what is that? Because afterwards when I started moving the 'limbs', there was something queer about how the joints stayed with the object. For instance, I rotated the 'chest' to make it seem like it's leaning forward (for walking), then I tried rotating the 'head' as well, but the joint isn't staying at the centre of the 'head'. It follows it, yes, but not in the centre of it. It's like it's shifting to the back of the skull.

About texturing:
I know how to texture from scratch by using Lithunwrap. I still want to know how to texture using in game textures. Hmmmmmm.......

You don't assign joints to groups, you assign vertices to joints.

If you're getting movement/rotation that doesn't match, you've presumably assigned to the wrong bone.

Well I just clicked on a joint (like upperleftarm), went to the 'Groups' tab, clicked on a group (also named upperleftarm), then clicked 'assign'.
Maybe they're not vertices. Or maybe they are. How do you assign the 'right' bone? I swear, after this is done I'm making an easier step by step for absolute noobs.

Yes, that should work.

I can't really see how you're getting yourself into a fankle over it; try a different tutorial?

You are clicking the assign button on the Joints tab, not the Groups tab, right? Also, are you just clicking on the name of the group, or are you actually selecting the group?

I selected it. It's highlighted :) And yes, from the joints tab.

Rao Dao Zao no, it's not the tutorial's fault, I think it's mine. I get confused easily by such things, which is why I made the topic :D So if I get to a part where I can't do anything I could ask and you fine gentlemen could (hopefully) help. And you did and therefore have my many thanks (more thanks to come as I progress I'm certain).
