Color Warzz!

I had this idea yesterday night, at like 6:00. I immediately started mapping, and by the next day at the same time I have finished the 1.00 version of Color Warz.
Inspired by an old Mario Party mini-game, the objective is to have the most points by the end of the 5th round. At the end of every 1:30 minute round, you get points equal to the number of tiles you own. To capture tiles (there are 100 tiles, 10x10), you must either step on them or use one of your 2 abilities.

To be added:

-3 special abilities. You can only learn one and it can be used once per round.
1) Scramble all blocks, giving them to random other players.
2) Make all of your blocks unconvertable for a short period of time.
3) After 5 seconds, each of your blocks will expand, converting all adjacent blocks.

-Detailed information. You can see how many tiles were taken (even if they were lost afterwards), who got the most tiles last round, how many tiles each player got last round, etc.

-Unique game modes. You can choose from several game modes, in order to make each game unique.

I just tried to play it but it won't let me. I tried it on single player too but the map doesn't even load to the loading screen it just brings me back to the map selection screen. Nice map idea btw, i think your thinking too small though. At it's present state it's nothing more than a simple mini game. Maybe add heroes with different colour capturing abilities, stunning effects or something.

Try re-downloading. If that doesn't work, I'll re-attach the map.
Edit: My fault; the optimizer I used needed a new file to work correctly, I uploaded the working version.

Okay, i played it but i have to say is much too simple. The skills make it fun but because everyone has the same spells it is just not fun 1v1. And with more people i can see this map getting a little too small for 3+ people. Though you said your adding more skills, why not make it bigger and give players a choice of a bunch of heros that have many different spells?

I'm currently working on the ability to change map sizes and adding new abilities. Remember this is an extreme beta, it contains nothing but the main system.

I'd have to disagree with you salbris. People like to add tons of heroes with different skill sets and such. That's fine in some cases, but for this kind of map I would just focus on basic gameplay.

What do you have planned to take this from a simple mini game to a full version, fully capable game?

Did you play the game? Many times? Playing it a few times might be fun but for a game to be anything it should be fun, simple, yet have room for variety and complexity that allows players many strategies. At it's present state it needs much more work to get it to that stage.

Not all games have to be replayable tons of times. This map concept simply isn't built for that, unless you have several different mini games of this sort combined together. I just don't see any reason to force replayability onto a core concept that doesn't have much of it. That almost never turns out well. If you DO want to turn it into a "full" map, I think there needs to be another solution besides multiple hero types, one that fits more with the core ideas of the game.

This is exactly what i'm saying, a map needs to have replayability and if the core concept doesn't make it that good then the map is really not worth making. If this is only as good as a mini-game then more games are needed to make this map "good enough" just as you said.
