Take a look at
Pior Oberson's for Spellborn 2, it is a clear and interesting topic on how models are created and textured.
It is not a real tutorial or anything, but it damn well is a good thing you try out to model some of his models and texture them using his textures.
After that, you can make your own texture basing it on his textures.
This is a great way of advancing your skills in modeling/texturing

Since it is a great way of showing his work I surely hope people will learn better ways to model and texture.

actually that was done by Blur studios. And the in-game models are made by Massive Black.
