Ive been looking at the current popular games on B.Net recently, and i had a great idea, and began to work on it right away. The map setting would be that of an ancient city ruin, and the players would manifest themselves as small groups of explorers representing the larger exploration companies and organizations of (The Warcraft world?) like Vanture Co. and the Dwarves. The game would play out like this: Each players chooses first: -their company or Race -Hero players will have a "base camp" outside the city, which they will use and upgrade to build more explorers and upgrades etc; after this is done, the players begin play at different entrances to the city ( a larger map, im htinking, but not epic). Once they enter the city, they will encounter many exploration "hotspots" (these "hotspots" would take the form of Risk style map "cities", the parts that make up the whole of a territory in Bnet Risk maps.) The players would take over these "hotspots"(or "Control Points" and be awarded certain bonuses, such as more gold from the parent company, new mercenary units ot choose from, more population room for new units, items for the players hero to buy, etc; In addition to the bonuses of controlling the single points, players will be able to ahcheive greater bonuses by taking control of great areas, for instance the "City Square" or "Ancient Temple", composed of three or four Control Points. I would also like to implement (though not nescesarily in the first drafts) a system that changes the players Exploration Team in unique ways via reputation with certain factions or gods, similar to the Element TD's Element picking system in a very small way. The Game, as i plan it, would eventually culminate in players engaging in bitter, small time fights with eachother over territory, upgrading their heroes via items and spells and having hero standoffs, and the winner being whoever has the most territories when a certain objective has been met. I would ver much appreciate your feedback, suggestions, ideas and eventually help, though i think id like to finish the frst draft or so on my own |

The map should not be too large - there should be several ruins of important buildings (as you said, it might be the temple, palace...) several (3-4) points each, not more. Players want battles, not roaming in a large map. |

I agree Ive begun work on version 0.1, I've decided to use the Sunken Temple tileset (atleast for now). I dont think i'll be putting any custom heros in for the first couple of versions, unless i get really bored, i'll just use the normal game heros, and balance them accordingly. Im going to be using a 128/128 size, to allow for a lasting game that doesnt go one for to long, and room for the Base Camps The races/companies I think ill be using for the first versions are as follows: -Dwarven Explorers/Explorers Guild -Venture Co. -The Stormwind Historical Society -Highborn Time Scryers/Pheonix Guard (Bloodelves intent on ucovering the magical secrets and relics of their highborn ancenstors) -Vengeance Chapter (the chapter to which Maeiv belonged, the first of the three Night Elf chapers devoted to the Old Law, who watch the prisons, avenge the victims of evil, and punish the criminals and evildoers they encounter) -The Shadow Councel -The Bloodfin Clan (A clan of Naga searching for Abandoned Ancient Nightelf/Naga cities left behind when Illidan called for the Naga) Any suggestions, ideas, problems or questions? They would be much appreciated and veery helpful EDIT: As an after thought, if any one who is an able map maker (as in drawing a map on a peice of paper or something) would like to submit a map of the city, your work would be much appreciated and used |
