Hi! Some days ago I had the idea of creating an .exe file (with MPQDraft) that changes the terrain of DotA to beachterrain. I only changed the skins of the tiles and cliffs - basically from felwood to ruins. No models or other stuff. Singleplayer is no problem. But when I play multiplayer, I always disconnect from the host after ~2-5 minutes, just like when you got kicked by cusomkick (connection lost, instant disc). I made a test with a friend, both using the modification, and we had a 25 min game without any disconnects. Someone has an idea how to fix it? Not because you don´t like dota, not because you think I am sick of DotA´s Terrain. Just posts helping me to solve the problem |

Maybe it is some sort of hack protection - mpq modifications are banned on battlenet afaik |

Desyncipation. Either that or WC3's anti-hack detected differences in the MPQs (most likely host side, rather than server side). |

So, wait, did you modify the map or the game's MPQ in order to switch the tiles? |

Another way is to put the custom files right inside Warcraft's folder and turn on "Allow Local Files" (make a DWORD under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\BLIZZARD ENTERTAINMENT\WARCRAFT III and set it to 1). I've used this trick to locally use custom models and it's worked perfectly in bnet. |

Only edit your main MPQ if you don't mind reinstalled each patch. What do you mean you don't think it'll be patched again? This is Blizzard, remember. |

Backups don't always work; sometimes it thinks that it's the wrong version with that. |
