Wow, I'm impressed by your cinematic and your system, and now I believe you when you say you're working on something unprecedented. I did not know that JASS was that sophisticated--indeed, it seems that JASS does indeed support structures (didn't know that) and classes like C++ (didn't know that either). I made my system as simple as possible because I thought that I could only make array variables of units, reals, and so forth. I didn't realize that JASS supported structures at all. Is there anywhere I can learn more about the structs in JASS? Thanks! Capt. Picard |

Ahh, VJASS, that stuff that allows you to program JASS like C++, I see now. Well, I suppose my cinematic system is more akin to Fortran, then, and I'll stick with it in that condition for the time being because Blizzard will surely come up with better stuff for us to work with in StarCraft 2. |

I'm curious, why the LOL? Starcraft 2 is coming out in 8-10 months, and Blizzard has already stated that they intend to give modders even more control over the scripting and help them see the underlying code better in the SC2 editor. Surely in 5 years Blizzard will have produced a better editor and scripting language! |

And that's why I'm making scCS. One thing I'm more confident of is that the bug exploits that allow us to do a lot of the things we do in WC3 will not exist in SC2. I'm also more confident that, whatever the scripting language will be, it won't be WC3 JASS. That's why I'm doing all this stuff with the most general functions possible, things that I am fairly certain will be present in SC2. |

You can't make a case saying that WoW is a bad game. Look at how many people play it. Games are meant to be fun and make money, and several million people think it's fun enough to pay for so I'd say Blizzard succeeded. I think that Blizzard will give us a way better editor though in more ways than just JASS. Hopefully they will give us more control in the Unit/Abilities editor, better terrain control, and make it easier to get models imported/exported. They must have saw potential for modding when they released WC3 with such a nice World Editor (especially for that time) and now that they've seen the continued creation of custom maps several years later, they should realize what a big role the modding community plays in the success of their games. |
