My video card burnt out (running on default), but I still have to map, so is there a way to make the graphics lower/whatever else would help in the editor?

File > Preferences > Video Tab

Uncheck the "Match Video Options from Warcraft III"

Adjust them to your liking.

Really, there are new DX10 capable cards < £30 (about US$50,000). Not that much.

buy Radeon HD 2600 XT =) (the best solution would be to wait a bit and gather money and buy a Radeon 3850/3870 =) ~150$-~200$ yes costs a bit but has a good performance and low energy requirement (DX10.1 & Shaders 4.1 support !!! Nvidia does suck in this part. amd also Radeon does better (faster due the most of operations are doing on GPU not CPU) decode video (but who need it ? xD idk)))
so the clever user buys a ATI card =) (AMD...)

Radeon > NVidia?

It seems like the other way around (many new games are being made "For NVidia" chipsets).

If you want cheap high end graphics, ATIs seem to be good value for money.

If you want top end graphics, nVidia 8800 (GT or something) is without peer.

NVidia is more pop =)

hmmm do no 8800 Ultra seems to pawnz but it costs 500$+ =)
but well it's all a question of prefer. i have a good expirience with ATI cards.

btw for the high end segment... ATI (AMD) will maybe soon present the RV680 this is a dual card (based on 2 RV670 chips aka 3870(3850)) it may be the new leader. idk. ^^

// if you will be a Graphic card... please don't by some obfuscated crap ^^ at least somethin like (x)600 + (Gforce or radeon doesnt really metters) 8600,2600 etc.

Well the one that burnt out was a gForce 5600 or 6500 or 6700 LE (not sure), but the comp is 4-5 years old and I don't want to risk much, so I was thinking a 7000 something. They should be cheap now.

PS: Damn, just searched nvidia's site, and all their low-end cards were PCI E (that came up). Don't have that.

new ATI cards supports AGPx8 =) (have AGP versions) ;) see why ATI pawnz ? Radeon HD 2600 has a agp version 100% (for example) or 2400 (but it suck TT) but you can buy it cheap.
