Vision of unit

How do I make a unit visible to player without letting the player have sight around the unit?

Failing that, anyway to do it with effects?

Dummy cast an ability like Wand of Darkness (or Eye of Darkness, can't remember its name) or Faerie Fire.

Great idea.

Edit: Okay, faerie fire doesn't work.
Edit2: Neither does Wand of Shadowsight.

I forgot to mention these units are actually owned by the player, they just don't have any sight range.

You cannot make the unit absolutely without LoS or with very small LoS - it tends to disappear while moving then. It should have at least 150-200 imo.

What about Art - Use Extended Line of Sight

Try setting to true and have the unit without sight radius. I think it does exactly what you want (maybe it only works for buildings).

Now keep in mind that using extended line of sight doesn't allow you to select the unit if not otherwise visible.

As far as I know... only 1 art field has physical effect on gameplay and that's occuluder (or however it's spelt) height... which doesn't work for everything.

These units are meant to be the equivalent of a rally point, so movement and selection isn't really that much of a problem.

rally point?!! why dont you just use an effect with a visibility point with like 1 radius on the location of the effect

can u create a fog modifier around the unit, and update it constantly?

Because that would give the player sight of the area. And fog modifier don't work when the radius gets too small (same limitations as unit sight I think).

Art - Use Extended Line of Sight was what I wanted, check my thread about Struct bug with move lightning if you want to see it.
