A portrait of a verry special lady :)

Zoom (requires log in)

Also included is a shot of how i arranged my working space.
Top left is the reference photo.
Bottom Left is the canvas zoomed out
And to the right we have the main canvas where i painted on.

I used pretty standard techniques, pressure set to opacity and stock textured brushes. Picked all colors by hand, i didnt touch the reference photo for anything.

First time painting something like this, an actual portrait and trying to make it look like something. So be nice TDR :P

Passing from comic style to realistic style is hard, I say that by experience, but I must confess I like it in general.

Probably you need to fix the girl's eye near to the pillow, it looks "strange". Maybe adding more shadow in that part could improve it.

Please keep the good work :)

EDIT: HA!! I think I know the reason of the strange eye, you did the eye's pupils bigger, probably with the intention to show her with a tender mood, AKA Bambi looking.

She looks sad, almost as if she's in pain. It looks good though.

put some contrast to it and more color tones would make it a bit more realistic i think

Yeah i could do that, but i'm not really going for a completely photorealistic vibe or something, i like that its verry vibrant.

Maybe next time i'll try to make it more realistic.

And about the pupil thing, they're supposed to be a bit dialated, they where in the reference. Low light evoiroment. I brightened it up becouse i wanted to :D

Haha. It looks really good, just there seems to be more red tones in the actual photo, could be because of the camera though.

Is it just me, or does she have Bob Marley hair? Not that that is a bad thing... :P

TDR
freakin awesome. BUT you drew her as she was looking somewhere behind us, not directly at us like in the photo...don't know if that's intentional though.

And is she like special olympics special? *runs away and hides*

Her pupils are nearly twice the size they are in the reference photo. I knew something looked really creepy about the picture, but couldn't pick it out until just now. I think the eyes are the only real "problem" points of the photo for the above reason and what TDR mentioned.
