The Inspiration Thread

Post your inspiration for terrains here.

For example: "A quiet mountain temple" would be a good inspiration.

However,
Quote:
"A quiet mountain temple with three arches, a big lump of rock in back, some grass around the rock and the base of the arches, a big statue of a Night Elf in the center with some ruined bricks around it, and a cliff on the right. The map will have 180/255/150 fog starting at 1000 and ending at 3500, and the lighting will be noon"
is not good inspiration, it's not even inspiration at all, it's like an instruction manual on how to create a terrain.

I'm going to start with an inspiration for the next person, and that person will make that terrain and then give inspiration for the following person.
You don't have to make the terrain, you can just give inspiration, but don't spam or comment on other people's terrains in this thread.

My inspiration is: An empty courtyard

Aight. . . this is my first time trying to seriously terrain anything, ever.
I did the courtyard first, then worked on the surrounding mountain stuff, which I liked better then the whole courtyard.

The dome buildings have WAY too many arches (like. . .61 of them O_O) But I didn't know how to auto-tilt at the time. No custom doodads or anything. I also worked as I go, adding more stuff from the times each screenie was taken.

My inspiration is: A mummy's tomb

Gorman, could you repost those pics with a lighter fog? I can barely see anything in those shots. And i dont know how exponential fog works either.

Well I don't know if its exactly a "city" but this is what I came up with. Originally I wanted to make something much more epic, a large canyon with lots of little holes in the sides where people would live but I got lazy trying to construct it.

The next inspiration? The Old West
