I have a question regarding map hosting here.

Or projects, for that matter.

I have seen ambitious projects with high standards and careful planning embraced here. And as much as that is admirable, I have also seen some ending up in ... well, a dead end, sort of speak. I just read that Unsung Legends have died because (among other things) it needs more man power and stuff.

I know it's potentially awesome, but in the end it is (sadly) just nothing more than a potential.

I will probably sound like an ass for saying the following stuff but it is a genuine question and I mean no disrespect to anyone here. I have made a map, which is an AOS map and although it is generic and similar to others out there in structure (probably DotA the most I guess, since every feed back I get always point me into that direction, and if I don't follow those who actually play the map, then what's the use?), I think that it is well made and I know I put a LOT of effort into making it the best I could. And it is completed. Relatively, that is, because a map always gets updated, right?.

I guess my question is, instead of dismissing projects because of its theme, why not accept them if they actually meet a certain standard? I host the map on several sites, but this site would've given me better input (given the expertise of the posters here).

AotZ is an AoS, and it's hosted here. Blades and Billets was an AoS and that was hosted here as well, before it died.

We don't judge or base on theme. We judge on quality, (insanely high quality), effort, polish, creativity, originality, etc. But also consider, that effort, time taken, skill, etc. Means NOTHING towards the map. We wouldn't care if someone was the best map maker ever; if their map sucked, it wouldn't get hosted.

So, did that answer your question?

Map hosting, or the map database?

They are two different things...since you're basically finished, you don't need map hosting, so I guess you mean the map database.

We have very high standards. A map without any origionality will never make it in. A map which is very origional and innovative can get in more easily compared to a slightly origional and innovative one. A map with small but significant innovations could quite easily get in if of high enough quality (and meeting the other rules regarding copyrighted materials, credits, etc.).

read what jesus said in my signature, that should give you an idea of how high the standards are.

Jesus seems to be correct in this one. But if you try making friends with the higher-ups of this site, your map might actually get in before anybody even tests it.
