Wacom are not only good, they're the best on the planet.
That bamboo thing looks very nice if you're going to do this as a hobby. It's not very professional though: it has 512 pressure levels and 2,540 Lines Per Inch resolution. To comare, my Intuos 3 has 1,024 pressure levels and 5,080 lines per inch resolution. Also the risk of breaking down may be a bit higher. But as I said, it's good if you don't want to get serious with this thing. If you do, then Graphire would be better. I tested one (a friend at university has Graphire) and it was quite nice (even though it lacks the touch strips that I grew dependency on).

I have a 5x7 inch Wacom Graphire and I really like it. I can't think of anything wrong with it.

i love my graphire, and i would suggest that, but it seems my specific one hs been discontinued. however I have to say the one problem with my is its a little undersized, i take larger brush strokes and on occasion it isnt enough but its usually great and from the looks of things that bamboofun model replaced mine so I would say go for it!

One thing you may want to do when you get it is take it off of "mouse" mode and put it on tablet mode. That way you don't have to scroll the cursor around the screen if you have a smaller tablet. I think the mouse mode sucks. What do you think, TDR?

actually if you install the software correctly on the graphire4, atleast, there was no scrolling on the mouse mode. the only time i ever had that problem was before i installed the software.

Right, after you install it, it puts it on tablet mode. But after installing you can still go back to mouse mode (but I wouldn't do that).
