So I've seen some Guides for different parts of the Object Editor - Ones that tell you what different data fields actually do. I've been considering making one of these for the Ability Editor, where I would go through individual abilities and show what the actual data fields do (Eventually having gone through all of them). The big things would save people a lot of time, like the fact that Casting Speed on Shadow Strike is how often it deals the damage over time. What I'm wondering is if I do all this work, will anyone want it? In Other Words: Do you guys want me to do this? |

He's saying that a lot of the work is done in existing guides and threads. Like the link he posted. If you want to do the work, I'm sure someone somewhere will read it and find it useful. Will enough people read it to justify your effort? I don't know. |

I think Tainted was trying to say "its already done", but if you can find some secrets that are hidden, or explain some weird spells, then GO FOR IT. Theres no guide for how flamestrike works, most people probably guess and check and hope, but in reality its a complicated spell, same with blizzard. Number of shards per wave doesnt actually do anything for instance. What Tainted also didn't mention but nonchalantly pointed out was that PitzerMike's Ability Guide (A+ material) has 12,000 views. So yes, I'm sure if you make this comprehensive guide, people will use it. I find it fascinating that you found out that tidbit on shadowstrike myself. Some tidbits are really confusing. Exactly how do certain abilities stack (eg slow poison, envenomed spears, and all variations of), is X, Y, and Z purgable? One weird thing nobody probably knows is that if you add freezing breath then lightning attack to a unit it will have a lightning attack that slows an area, but if you add lightning attack first then freezing breath you don't get the lightning attack =]. These little quirks being documented would help everyone. |

Well, as opposed to that, mine would be a compilation of the data fields used in different abilities. So yeah, I think I'll do that. |

one that i don't under stand is cluster rockets. i was making a map awhile ago and wanted to have a machine gun effect in an area with out the stun but it didn't work, either it didn't nothing at all, the enemy didn't even notice it, or it just stunned. i don't really care that much any more though. |
