Smiley keyword proposal

Hi ho :)

I'm quite new to this forum, but one thing that annoys me eternally, is that the smileys have quite unintuitive keywords.

I think you should at least make the common ones like this:

:)
:(
;)
:p
:D

And certainly not between : symbols. And the other ones shouldn't have that annoying emote_ prefix. :p

never ever remove smileys, they are the well... "faces" of the forums

I prefer it when the smileys are hard to make intentionally than easy to add unintentionally .

Using emotes makes you look like a complete nub.

Unless I use them, but I rarely do because they suck.

I think that's a matter of opinion. Anyway, if you guys don't want it, nevermind then. :) I'll still keep rebelliously using my own smileys though. :) xD ;) :D :p :O

Smileys were intentionally made hard so people would have more trouble doing this:

On other forums, you can usually just do this: :D :D :D :D :D :X:X:X :(:( and spam away with ease.

I think pressing some buttons on the right of your message editor is as easy as writing shorter keywords, but ah well.

the system is made just so accidents never happen, if it were so easy to add up emoticons sometimes you would end up having an emoticon instead of ":P", which might happen sometime.

Because, first of all, when you use the : symbol in a phrase, a white space has to come after it. Like in:

I'll give an exame: here you go.

Secondly, using the parentheses in such a way would also be quite weird. And this doesn't explain why many, many forums use these particular keywords, but not having problems with it.
