Griff, this first section is just for you since I know you check the formatting of a post before anything else. I read through that FAQ and followed it to the dot. This time, try and read through the entire thing before commenting. On The Hive you just read the first 2 sentences and then ostracized my topic. I'd really appreciate it, thank you. Now, this is my first time posting about this map here on Wc3c, I've been skeptical about doing it as I feel I may receive a lot of negative feedback from individuals. Call it first time jitters, but I know there are a lot of very skilled individuals here on Wc3c and I feel that I might not be up to snuff. Please read through the entire post! About Greetings everyone, I am Steel, a member of Clan TDG which has brought around maps such as Burb TD, Demolition TD, Possession TD, Final Fantasy Forever, Uther Party and many more...We make top quality maps and I would not be a map designer unless I did just that. I'm bringing back my map Sagas ORPG. It was hard for me to try and leave the map as it was since I spent so much time on it. I was going to begin work on another map with a clan member but there were too many issues with time so I've decided to come back to this. About Me: For those of you who don't know, I've been working on this map for quite a while. I've been a mapper since the beginning of WC3 and I like complex and challenging ideas and bringing them to a map. I'm a professional web designer, programmer in several languages and a student. About the map: The map was started out of my hatred for other map developers being lazy and stubborn. I don't mean this in a negative way, but when you find something that is a giant flaw in a map and inform the developer of that mistake, they may take it the wrong way and they would not fix it. There are many developers that I respect for their work because they have passion for what they do and they take pride in it. I feel the same way, what I do is for fun and I want people to have fun too, but I'd like people to respect the work that map makers put into a map. Detail about the map: This map is generic like most RPGs are at first, but when I get the majority of the map completed I will be adding in difficult content. The content will be in the form of "Missions" that you will choose to do and you can find complex enemies and puzzles within them. Also, for those people that like difficult enemies and their fights, there will be numerous bosses that will require strategy and teamwork to defeat. Story for the map: I read your little quirk about the rules that I must have a story posted. I also read that if I don't want to reveal it I shouldn't post either. Well, I'm going to be as vague as possible as to entice people to play a game that is shrouded in mystery. It is a perfectly acceptable marketing ploy and since I want people to try my map I feel it is an acceptable path to take. The World we live in has been seeing a stirring of magical forces, the factions of the plains have begun to band together. Their strengths combined are more than the humans can handle alone, time has passed and the once peaceful cities of man are now eroded by the wind as they have been crushed by evil. Only one cities remains a safe haven for the strong, but with the forces of evil bearing down ever stronger, the next attack may be the last for man. A new form of hero must emerge to save man from the constant onslaught... In Short: If you like RPGs, then you will like this map. Map Website: http://www.steelscorner.com Current Map via EpicWar: Progress Completion - 99% Items 100% (Progressively Updated) Creeps 100% (Progressively Updated) Quests 100% (Progressively Updated) Those with 'Progressively Updated' mean that they are at 100% but are constantly updated with the progression of the game. When more is added it just adds to the existing completion. The game is essentially "finished" it just receives ongoing content updates to further the map's depth. There are many things that I think the game could also add and benefit from. For example, I added a virtual belt inside the multiboard so player's would no have to waste inventory slots for those items. So adding and improving systems is something I really enjoy. As it stands the areas that have terrain are only about half opened. This means there is plenty of content to add to the game. I'm hammering out details to the game before expanding open the game rapidly. I'm very conscious of the aspect of balance and I take this with great strides. Game Features Quote:
Gallery None of the images from my previous server made it, they were all lost. I'll be trying to take some more but in the mean time if you play the map and you would like to submit a screenshot, attach it to this thread, or go to my forums and attach it there, or email it to me at [email protected] Again, I do apologize for the lack of pictures. Note:Pictures were not listed as a required aspect of the post, they are only required for the desire of hosting a project Current Team There is no team. It is a completely individual endeavor by me, Steel. The only other people to have helped are listed under the Terrain section of the features. There are systems taken from other mappers that I have included for use and or modified for my usage. These people have received credit for their work and I thank them for it. "Jobs" Requirement for all Jobs: Must speak proper English, I will not tolerate anything else Item Designer [Status: Open (1 slot)] There are 14 different classes in this game so there are a TON of items to be made. I'm looking for someone who understands linear and exponential graphs and math. Experience with JASS is a plus, but not required. I'd also like someone who has prior experience with an RPG. This is NOT an easy job... Quest Designer [Status: Open (1-2 slots)] First off, I really hate designing quests. I can come up with the ideas of them and such but the coding process I absolutely hate. This job is kind of a toss up at the moment. Until I code the Quest Management system properly for public usage I will only be looking for someone with exceptional JASS skills. Advanced JASS Coder [Status: Open (1 slot)] The title speaks for itself. You must be familiar with Structs, VJASS, Beta Tester [Status: Open (Several)] Well, anyone can play the releases that I make public, but I do a LOT of testing between versions. So those people that are willing to do some testing here and there between versions are suitable applicants for this position. So are you continuing the "old Sagas", or is this the "new Sagas" you were talking about a couple months ago? Did you find what was causing those desyncs? |

Desync is still unknown but it was caused only when there are more than 5 people in the map. So I've restricted the number of players to 5 to fix the problem. I'll still try and find out what the problem is, but I can't be sure about what it is. |
