Ability issues with Map Editor... gets old quick.

Why can't I just create a custom skill and not have to base it on another skill? Is that so much to ask for? I have a unit with Berserk, which is basically instant cast, doesn't do the unit cast animation or effect, and is self cast which is basically what I want.

This is getting old real quick and is really starting to irritate me. I have 1 skill Berserk. I have another skill that I based off Berserk because I want the instant cast, no cast animation by the unit, and no effect. However, for whatever reason, the second skill I added based off Berserk is overriding the first skill. I activate the first skill and the effects of the second skill go off. The second skill is working as it should.

So tell me this, why can't I just create a skill from scratch without having to worry about it having a cast animation, without worrying if it has a buff, without worrying if it has a cast animation, without worrying about all other hard coded effects of the skill that I can't leave blank, on top of it overriding any of the same thing based on the skill? Biggest annoyance in an editor I have seen thus far.

So what skill should I base the second skill off of with the same attributes? I have been looking and have come up with nothing. I just want a blank skill to work with. >:(

Channel, silly. You can even change the order ID.

If you want Beserk's additional effect of not interupting a units current order, well then you're in a bit more strife. PitzerMike's abilty tutorial has a list of abilties that preserve orders.

Unsure what you are referring to about channel and order ID.

Also not interrupting a units current order is not the effect I am referring to. Usually for most ability/spell animations the unit will use its spell/cast animation. Berserk does not do this. Is that because of the not interrupting the current order?

Because you can change Channel's Order ID you can use multiple iterations on the same unit.

Ergo, you can remove all the animations and then Copy and Paste it too create all the animation-less abilities you need.

Ohhhh I see. Thanks, didn't know that about Channel. I think I might either use that or just base off Divine Shield. Either or. ;P
