Ok... I am not sure what it takes to be a hosted project here at wc3campaigns.net. However, I would love support for the following map. This game would be based off of savage 2 (s2games.com). The idea is, it combines RTS with RPG, and even FPS. However, FPS in warcraft is stupid (unless I can get help to set up a system like elimination tournament for range). So here are the rules and gameplay. - There are two teams: Alliance and Horde - There are 12 players, 1 player per team is the commander, who builds stuctures, buffs the players, and gives commands. - The other players have a hero, however, only the commander has shared vision of everyone else. - There are gold mines across the map which give your team income, however they must be captured by a commander building a base next to the mine (requires nearby player) - Income is divided into player gold and team gold. Player gold is only gained by killing units. Team gold is gained through mines. Team gold is used by the commander and any players that repair structures, etc. - Each time you die, you must select a new hero (some heroes are better than others, but cost lots of gold instead of being free) - Some heroes are found at neutral taverns, but require a certain number of kills by that player, in addition to gold. - The objective is to kill the enemy base Names WILL be changed later: Buildings: - Tower - Bombard Tower - Shield tower - Tech 1 (unlocks spells) - Tech 2 (unlocks Healer) - Tech 3 (Unlocks Seige) - Tech 4 (Unlocks Tank) - Neutral capture (required to make units that require souls) - Spawn point (Allies can spawn here after death) Tech buildings unlock extra hero classes that you can play as when you die. They also allow the commander to build very weak, expensive units. These units are simply an extra aid to the commanders power. Also, buildings must be placed close to a nearby unit. Towers have a limit per AoE. Items are also available to heroes, but are lost when you die. Commanders may set a flag on the ground that constantly pings the minimap (limit of 3). Classes: - Melee - Ranged/Spell Caster - Builder (Has many defensive abilities and binds. Can repair structures and build gold mines, only if a nearby building is detected). - Healer (requires tier unlock and gold) - Seige (requires tier unlock and gold) - Tank (requires tier unlock and gold) Anyone questions on game mechanics? Anyone willing to help? |

It sounds like an overall interesting game. But like most ideas will take work to get it to all synchronize properly. I'd be willing to help, just I hope you will be on at least once a week and will be able to finish this. I can do some basic triggers, code, spells. I can also terrain but i'm not the best. |

I will private message you when we get to a point in which we need help. We are still doing the simple stuff first. |

So.. What happens if the team Commander is bad? What happens if the players decide to disreguard the Commander? I remember Team Fortress 2 was originally going to have a commander in it, but they decided it would be easier to just simplify things and remove him rather than go through all the work answering such questions with working answers. While the game should support teamwork, it should by no means require it to play. Rather, it should simply enhance the game for more skilled players. Also, I generally dont think a builder class is a good idea. Allowing any good sort of defense in games tends to draw them out. " Each time you die, you must select a new hero (some heroes are better than others, but cost lots of gold instead of being free)" -Do you keep your level? Think of snowballs if the answer is no. |
