How come shockwave deals no damage if it targets an area?

I am trying to figure this out. Shocwave is suppose to be an area of effect attack. It does inflict damage to a target and any other targets within that area of effect if it targets a unit to begin with... But if the spell targets the ground for instance and not a unit. It deals 0 damage even if the shockwave passes directly through units.

Basicly I have a boss who is triggered to shockwave certain areas of the room and not the hero. Yet unless I am standing in the exact region the shockwave is cast on, I am not hurt even if the spell hurls right through me and I am in the center of the path.

Does the area of effect only a radius around the target? and not a line/cone based area?

I'm fairly sure shockwave should work like that. Try making invisible dummy units and having the boss cast on those instead, see if that works.

Are you sure you haven't just set the AoE to zero? Or something really small like 50?

Just use Carrion Swarm with the Shockwave missile model.

Yeah but carrion swarm has that fugly black wispy cloud effect when it hits units, no matter what you change the buff/missile/etc. to.

I am using just using the shockwave (neutral hostile) the only changes I've made to the skill are distance increased the 900 and area of effect and final area increased from 150 to 200. He is just triggered to shock wave the center of regions in the room and yet his shockwave that should do 75 damage never seems to hurt at all.

Theres an option for max dmg shockwave can do, u probably set that to 0 by mistake.
