F**king Aggravating Questions (FAQ) For your edification, instead of a genuine FAQ about the Blood Guard and Outlaws, I've compiled, unedited, a series of 'questions' put to me on the subject. Enjoy. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: hey [email protected] says: Hey. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: hey [email protected] says: Hey. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: What forums are you from again? [email protected] says: I'm Skullpitter. Realm Design. DoC. One Week Later TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: hi [email protected] says: Hi. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: What forums are you from again? [email protected] says: Think you could write it down this time? [email protected] says: Skullpitter. Realm Design. Dawn of Chaos. Warcraft I remake. WC3Campaigns, SAMods. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Oh. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Have you guys released that demo for Dawn of Chaos yet? [email protected] says: We're releasing the project in installments now. The first Act of the Human Campaign comes out February 29, assuming all goes well. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: So thus far, nothing has been released? [email protected] says: That's correct. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: And I had another question about the game itself [email protected] says: Glad to answer. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Dawn of Mod is supposed to be a remake of WarCraft: Orcs and Humans on the WarCraft III engine right? [email protected] says: Dawn of Chaos. Yes. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Indeed. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: What is that new Bandit race or whatever you plan to add? [email protected] says: Outlaws. The two extra 'races' are used because certain levels require you to fight humans when you're playing as humans, or orcs when you're playing as orcs. The outlaw race is what it sounds like. The Blood Guard are just three more Orc clans. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Why can't you just have Humans fighting against Humans instead of a new race? [email protected] says: We could. We could also replicate all the levels exactly, have no heroes, make only four units selectable at a time, and include no new art. [email protected] says: But in that case, why not just play Orcs and Humans. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Actually I think that would be a good idea TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: except the 4 unit selection [email protected] says: I think that would be dull. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: I think making two new races is going to destroy balance TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: and make the game too complicated TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Orcs and Humans was plain and simple, a classic [email protected] says: First of all, they're not new races. They're just modifications of the existing two. And second of all, having two races means having all the Orc clans look exactly the same, and having deserters and renegades from Azeroth look like a well-outfitted army. Which is stupid. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: There werent any deserters or renegades in the original... [email protected] says: So you're saying you never played it? [email protected] says: Or you just weren't paying attention. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: I beat the game TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Plenty of times [email protected] says: By skipping the Northshire level apparently. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: No TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Northshire level, I don't know the levels by their names TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Could you describe it? [email protected] says: You start off having to rush into the 'abbey' which is really just a town. To defend it against a force of humans, who have been convinced by the Orcs to rebel against the King. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: I don't remember that level [email protected] says: I do. Which is good, since I'm remaking the game. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: I remember a level where you start out with some knights, footmen, and archers TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: and you have to run over to a base thats under attack by orcs TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Is that the level your talking about? [email protected] says: Chapter 6: Northshire Abbey The monks of Northshire Abbey are under siege by a band of Human warriors that have been convinced by enemy agents to fight against the crown. You will be given a complement of knights to lead to the Abbey, which is already under attack. Ride hard and fast, as you must prevent its destruction. [email protected] says: When you have secured the Abbey and beaten back these treacherous curs, you must then move to destroy the enemy at their source. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: What's the level number? [email protected] says: 6. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Let me go check, I have the game open. [email protected] says: DUDE. That was the MISSION BRIEFING. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: I know TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Just wait TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Yeah TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Thats just a regular human base TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Attacking you with Knights, Footmen, and Archers [email protected] says: Yes, I'm well aware that it's just a normal human base. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: There are no "renegades or deserters"... [email protected] says: Jesus Christ. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: ? [email protected] says: And in Warcraft II, Lothar is just a knight. And Gul'dan is a Death Knight. [email protected] says: What I was saying, is that it looks wrong to use the Azeroth army to represent deserters, which is why we created the new sub-race. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Right TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Oh TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Okay TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: But TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: That "race" will only appear in one mission right? [email protected] says: Two. They'll show up briefly in a non-base-building mission later on. [email protected] says: The Blood Guard will be used interchangeably with the Orcs depending on which Clan you are fighting in the mission. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Alright, well I don't agree with making two new races I think it would be fine just to create a human race of a different color as it is in the original TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: But since you prefer that way, I guess I'll just wait and see how it turns out. [email protected] says: There can be hundreds of units on both sides in this game. Confusion is inevitable in multiplayer, but it's inexcusable in a campaign. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Confusion? TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: How would you get confused if the army is of a different color TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: Haven't you ever played WarCraft III? [email protected] says: Because our units aren't 90% ugly team colour. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: ugly team color? [email protected] says: Because unlike Blizzard we're taking more than five minutes to hack together chunky polygons with day-glo colouring. TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: lol TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: lol TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: lol TeRRoR.KhAoZ says: lol This is why I don't post my email address very often. |
