Romance of the Blood Knight

romance - a novel or other prose narrative depicting heroic or marvelous deeds, pageantry, romantic exploits, etc.

This cinematic is the prologue of Blood and Flame, a planned 15-20 part narrative depicting the fates and struggles of the blood elves and other races caught in the clash between the forces of Light and Darkness. The entire saga takes place in its own universe, not the WarCraft universe, although basic race characteristics still hold true (i.e. blood elves are conflicted, humans are noble, undead/demons are evil, etc.).

Runtime - 1:48

NOTES:
*Due to the emphasis on text letterbox mode was not used, but cinematic mode is on.
*Only used Blizzard art and sound to create this cinematic.

You've spent a lot of time on details like sounds etc, but it still doesn't look good. If I were you I'd learn to terrain a tad better before you go on with the project.

humans aren't noble, they are mostly selfish honorless people. If Lothar never managed to form the Alliance, civil war wouldve torn Eastern Kingdoms followed by a massacre by Orcs. Humans only care for themselves and/or thier country, with some exceptions.

Hmmmm.....so basically you think I need more doodads/variation in the tiles? Or is it something else?

Also, what do you think of the cameras?

I'm mainly basing them off the paladins than anyone else....they aren't the largest group in the world, so they lack the corruption of sprawling empires.

Thanks for the feedback.

ur cinematic is too simple. the world is more epic. The reason wow terrain landscape is beautiful compared to others is the scale.
Also Crysis, this game also has nice landscape.
Buildings without roof like in ur cinematic, and everything look so simple makes it look... boring.
Try make the things bigger, like a big hall, and try think of the background, tat is what makes things beautiful.

Eh.. I guess.

It looks like wc3, that's the problem. You've got to like, think outside the box. Look at some of the cinematics that has been approved around here, (TToA, CotD...) study the terrain and learn from it.
Look at other people's terrain, check out the Hive's Terrain Section and look at Ghjenis, MadseN and [Death]'s pieces.

This hardly qualifies as a proper cinematic. It's far too short, it barely qualifies as an introduction. You need to have more work finished to get in the cinematic archive.

Also, technicaly it wasn't the best. You should work more on your terrains, cameras as well as a general idea of what you want to show. For the most part, a character walking past random battle sequences doesn't tell much of a story; it just seems random.

I agree with what Anitarf has said, and would also like to say that the fight coreographing was basically non-existant. It might be excusable in a cutscene, but not in a cinematic submission.

Terrrain wise, by the end it was bland and unbelievable (and not in a good way). I suggest you take a look at some of the cinematics in the database.

Wow, I watched this again recently and I have to disagree with a lot of what you guys said. Honestly, you're stifling the growth of your own art by acting like this is some kind of exclusive club based on following some formula to perfection, I really don't see much innovation or creativity here at all.

Aren't you the map submitter?

Also they are right, it doesn't have the length to be called a cinematic, it doesn't have anything breath-taking, and most of all, it didn't have a good story...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and if you feel like this site does only accept perfection, then that's your view, and no one is stopping any kind of growth by speaking their mind, it's actually quite the opposite. They are encouraging growth by letting a creator know his/her flaws so he/she can work on them...

They aren't shunning anyone and cutting them apart!
In my opinion this cinematic needed alot of work before being uploaded onto this site, I mean didn't you look at what you were up against?
So in the future, first work your ass off on the map your creating and try to be receptive to anything anyone tells you.

"...it doesn't have anything breath-taking..."

By which I'm assuming you mean it doesn't have anything from your static checklist of details that must be in any map before you'll give it a chance.

Listen you retarded person you, your map doesn't cut it. It simply doesn't. Okay? Work on improving it instead of trying to defend it's mediocrity.
